“Anti-Semitism” refers to prejudice and/or discrimination against Jews. Though there are varying facts about anti-Semitism, at one time or other the Jews have suffered in every nation in Europe and elsewhere. The early colonialists in New York, Charleston and Savannah too tried to ban the entry of Jews when they first began to immigrate.
Cause/s: The main cause of anti-Semitism seems to be 3 fold. First, the bible describes the Jews as chosen ones. Other cultures and religions across the globe have found it difficult to accept and digest this fact. And the Jews too are at loss to provide an apt explanation. This seems to create distrust about the teachings and the intentions of the followers besides arousing anti-religious and racial sentiments. Secondly, many Jews have considered their religion as sacred and followed it mutely despite the conversion of a large number, primarily to Christianity. The remaining did not yield to persuasion and/or force. This was not well received by the leaders of nations presided by other religions. Thirdly, the Jews have always demonstrated prowess in their primary occupation. This is amply demonstrated by the global standing of Israel in trade and other areas, besides a small number of Jews holding greater control over economy in US and European nations. This has fostered insecurity in the hearts of the natives of these nations.
End: The allies of Jewish community should garner support from national leaders across the globe and correct the perception about Jews, created through ages of false propaganda, unsupported by facts. Judaism, its values and mission should be clearly communicated at the right frequency and forums (including schools). The unjust and malicious allegations against Jews should be condemned by all nations collectively. A favorable code of conduct should be globally formed to make them comfortable and preserve their heritage. This will herald a new dawn of freedom from insecurity and racial discrimination for Jews.
