It is of no surprise that teenagers, young adults, and even children are constantly typing away with their technological gadgets that either is for communicating and/or entertainment. These addictive technological products are slowly ceasing the way person-to-person communication was once done. In fact, it is highly known that the most usage of technology is stemming from young adults in today’s society. Even though many students, adults, and blue and white collar employees will most likely agree that technology makes the lives of people much easier, it does not mean that technology should always be the prime basis of working in our day-to-day lives.
It is said that technology such as: computers, smart phones, and tablets are the leading forces that have come between interaction with one another. Even though many would say that cellphones and/ or smartphones have intergraded the possibilities of forming small talk through text when unable to answer the phone, it does mean that we cannot carry on conversation through a more formal way. Lacking the formalities of formal communication has caused individuals to feel rather out of place when trying to spark up communication with a stranger, for instance. In addition, some individuals have analyzed that they feel sometimes pressured to either answer the phone or text back when the sender is trying to mobile communicate. This can be due to the fact that some phones have a texting capability of noticing when the receiver has read the text message and/or has
ignored the phone call. However, person-to-person communication is rather much difficult to do what a mobile phone can do.
Moreover, computers these days allow capabilities far beyond the old fashion way of communicating (landline phones or postal service mail). For instance, some individuals might elect to chat with friends through text and video chat, instead of just calling the friend over the phone and arrange for a meet (which would be the most effective way of communicating). This is because without the parties being physically there how can one know how the other person is feeling without facial expressions or body gestures. A reason why some people might forget how to dialogue with another to better a founding relationship is due to the fact that technology is on the rise and how ways of communicating are being manipulated through wires and computer chip enhancers. Nevertheless, tablets are too another manipulated source of communicating based from technology. This is because tablets were made to be not only portable, but also equipped with almost immaculate programs that help the user compose communication everywhere were there is Wi-Fi. With these capabilities of the tablet it would further decrease the desire of an individual to become more engaged with others face-to-face.
Either way technology will continue to advance in the near future, however, technology should never interfere with one’s life one hundred percent of the time. Furthermore, if technology continues to gain more advances then the communication channels that are open for face-to-face communication will surely dissipate. And as a society we would be surrendering what was given to us as a birthright (person-to-person communication), yet alone giving up the opportunity to meet new people and to have conversations with them. In addition, if more gadgets were invented to withhold the ability of formal communication then we would surely face the demise of the nineteenth century forms of proper communication.
