Help has been very important for mankind since all times. It is used to be and so remained. We do not have to learn about its necessity, its importance, and its value. Everything is clear by itself. We cannot live without others and others need us.
As a first generation immigrant in the US, I clearly understand the importance of mentorship. Many people have donated their time and valuable advice to help me get this far. As a way to give back for the help I received, I have been volunteering in Big Brother Big Sister of NY, where I serve as mentor to teenagers in underserved areas of NYC. I believe that volunteering is the foundation of building and developing civil society. It embodies the noblest aspirations of humankind such as the pursuit of peace, freedom, security and justice for all people.
Moreover, it is really great when you have an opportunity to help your fellow men as for every person in the world her native land is the best. In the broadest sense, the country is a big family, where everyone lives in sharing joys and problems. Therefore, we feel our involvement and responsibility for everything that is happening in the state.
However, I believe that patriotism is not only about feelings, but about actions, directed on our native country and our people had a good life. It is especially important, when you are abroad. One my greatest accomplishment was when one of the mentee was accepted to my alma mater Bronx Science. Furthermore, he was also immigrant from Bangladesh and I felt like he is my younger brother. I am proud of myself as we are still friends with this person and he is really grateful to me. To my mind, everyone would act in the same way if he encounters such a situation.
