The trade routes between Europe and Middle East played a major role in the cultural, religious, and artistic exchanges that took place between the major centers of civilization. Some of the routes served for the centuries but the problem was the closed outer policy of Asian countries. Japan and China limited their ports and even sealed their borders so European nations needed to explore new routes for them. The search of these paths also brought the development of navigation, trading systems, military and cultural aspects as well as started the Age Of Exploration. Since Portugual has already found their new route for trading, exploring the African shore, the rivalry nation, Spain, also wants to find new and efficient routes for trade.

However instead of Columbus landing in Asia, he landed on an island of the Americas which triggered the New World colonization. Capitalism and merchantalism cause the new societies to gain wealth and power. Towns and cities grow larger due to these new developments, while the food supply and nutrition increases causing the population to increase.
