There are so many themes used in the story; however, the most obvious ones are association and memory. The story is much more like an annotation of stories, experiences, and memories that express the importance of association. People come to different places, and in the process, meet new people with whom new memories are created and new associations are formed. The narrator chronicles her story of meeting a lot of people and sharing new heights of familiarity with them. Another theme that is common in the story is memory. The narrator constantly recalls of the many things that happened in the past and how her past experiences relate to her journeys in the present. Not only that. The story also cultivates on the memories of other characters involved in the story that somehow formed the outline of the story.
