Singapore
Detail
Economic Facet. From the point of view of a country’s economy, certain freedoms are essential to attract immigrants. Singapore is one of the best countries to emigrate as the country ranks among the best in terms of labor freedom, fiscal freedom and investment freedom. In terms of labor freedom, Singapore match the standards set by the United States of America (both score 80-100 in the 2016 Index of Economic Freedom) (Index of Economic Freedom). But, Singapore provides much better fiscal freedom (Singapore scores 80-100 and US scores 60-69.9 in the 2016 Index of Economic Freedom) and investment freedom (Singapore scores 80-100 and US scores 70-79.9 in the 2016 Index of Economic Freedom) standards for its citizens (Index of Economic Freedom). Thus, Singapore outranks the United States of America from the economic facet and needs to be considered.
Political Facet. In terms of political facet, there are certain factors that need to be considered before moving to a new country. Some of these factors are government spending, monetary spending and freedom from corruption. In terms of government spending, Singapore’s standards trump the United States of America (Singapore scores 80-100 and US scores 50-59.9 in the 2016 Index of Economic Freedom) (Index of Economic Freedom). Also, in terms of monetary spending, Singapore beats the standards of the United States of America (Singapore scores 80-100 and US scores 70-79.9 in the 2016 Index of Economic Freedom) (Index of Economic Freedom). Finally, as far as freedom from corruption is concerned, Singapore is again better than the United States of America (Singapore scores 80-100 and US scores 70-79.9 in the 2016 Index of Economic Freedom) (Index of Economic Freedom). Therefore, Singapore is a logical solution for an American to emigrate when they consider the political facet.
Social Facet. In terms of social facet, Singapore can also be compared to the US on the basis of financial freedom, property rights, and other basic facilities. As far as financial freedom is concerned, Singapore is a much better destination to reside in that the United States of America (Singapore scores 80-100 and US scores 70-79.9 in the 2016 Index of Economic Freedom) (Index of Economic Freedom). In terms of property rights, Singapore matches the high standards set by the United States of America (Singapore scores 80-100 and US scores 80-100 in the 2016 Index of Economic Freedom) (Index of Economic Freedom). Finally, in terms of other facilities that are needed reside in a new country Singapore beats the US in getting electricity (6>44), registering property (17>34), and paying taxes (5>53) on the World Bank’s doing business ranks (World Bank).
Evaluation
The most suitable country to emigrate would rank among the best in terms of their economic, social and political standings. My suggestion is to move to Singapore as it matches or beat the United States of America on the basis of economic, political and social facets.
Syria
Detail
Economic Facet. Syria can be judged in terms of economic facets by understanding the level of labor, fiscal and investment freedom in the country. In terms of labor freedom, Syria is one of the worst countries to live in at the moment (Syria scores 0-49.9 and US scores 70-79.9 in the 2016 Index of Economic Freedom) (Index of Economic Freedom). The fiscal freedom in Syria is miles behind the United States of America (Syria ranks 119 and the US ranks 53 on the World Bank’s paying taxes rank) (World Bank). The investment freedom is also much worse in the Syrian Republic as terror attacks make it tough to invest (Syria ranks 88 and the US ranks 35 on protecting investors in the World Bank ranking) (World Bank). The country lacks a million miles behind the United States and perpetual threat to an individual’s life.
Political Facet. Government spending in Syria is a major concern as the government is presently involved in an ongoing battle with rebels and ISIS presents another challenge to the government. Monetary spending is also much worse in the United States of America as it ranks among one of the worst countries in the world (Syria scores 0-49.9 and US scores 70-79.9 in the 2016 Index of Economic Freedom) (Index of Economic Freedom). Freedom from corruption is also another major concern for immigrating to the Syria as the government is ranked among one of the worst in terms of governance and protection of its citizens (Syria scores 0-49.9 and US scores 70-79.9 in the 2016 Index of Economic Freedom) (Index of Economic Freedom).
Social Facet. Financial freedom is another concern for immigrating to Syria as someone who moves from the United States of America would find it very tough to adjust to Syria (Syria scores 0-49.9 and US scores 70-79.9 in the 2016 Index of Economic Freedom) (Index of Economic Freedom). Property rights are another trouble for someone moving from the United States of America as property ownership is a major concern for many Syrians (Syria scores 0-49.9 and US scores 80-100 in the 2016 Index of Economic Freedom) (Index of Economic Freedom). Syria ranks far behind the United States of America in other factors such as getting electricity (120<44), registering property (136<34), and paying taxes (119<53) on the World Bank’s Doing Business ranking (Index of Economic Freedom).
Evaluation
In terms of economic and employment point of view, there are several countries that lag behind the United States of America. Picking one country out of hundreds is tough choice but in terms of economics and employment one country that needs to be avoided at the moment is Syria due to the presence of ISIS in the Arab country.
