Global warming is the average scale rise in the earth’s temperatures. It also means the increase of temperatures of the air, land surface and the ocean. The oceans stores the energy produced by global warming leading to increased temperatures in it and also melting the ice leading to rising above sea level. The global sea surface and air temperatures have risen by 0.8 0C since the early twentieth-century making humans get worried about their future. The greatest cause of global warming is from carbon emission due to human activities. The effects of global warming are devastating such as extreme weather events which include heavy rainfalls, droughts and heat waves, extinction of rare species and ocean acidifications due to regiment shifting of temperatures. The gradual rise of global warming has alerted the humans to take action to reduce the increase and to curb it by use of friendly environmental materials and reduction of the carbon emissions (Episode 472).
On the economist's view, they came up with The One Page Plan to Fix Global Warming. The action would reduce the rate by increasing the prices of the carbon and also the products associated with it. Carbon has played a significant role in global warming because its prices are low as compared to other sources of energy. Firstly, the action believes that, increasing the taxes on carbon production and carbon products like petroleum and coal would significantly reduce carbon emissions. By increasing the oil products taxes, the price of diesel, oil and other carbon products would increase. Therefore, people will have to buy these products at a higher price hence reducing their usage. For example, if the prices for oil increase people will look for another way so as to evade it such as boarding public vehicles to work. Also, people can move closer to their operating areas or even reduce their driving races significantly decreasing carbon emissions from cars (Episode 472).
Also, the tax increase on concrete cement can also contribute to reducing carbon emissions. Most of in the global buildings are made of concrete that produces a lot of carbon gases during its preparation. Cement production goes through a heating process that emits dangerous carbon gases that damage the ozone layer increasing global warming. Therefore, if cement is taxed, its price will increase, and people will reduce in buying it hence its production reduces and also carbon emission reduces. On the other hand, if the prices of coal increase, electricity bills will increase. Therefore, this will force people to turn to other cheaper ways of getting energy such as the use of solar energy. These steps will reduce the carbon emissions across the globe. The taxes obtained from these setup laws can be used to improve climate by making of green energy and products. For these ideas to become real, they must take place in every country in this world. Therefore, when each country enforces them, then global warming will reduce or come to a halt (Episode 472).
In conclusion, global warming is caused by accumulation of the carbon gases in the atmosphere making it warmer than it should be affecting the climate. Humans have gotten aware of this and have gradually started taking steps towards reducing the cause although tremendous noticeable levels are yet to happen. The one-page plan to reduce global warming aims at increasing carbon prices so as to reduce their usage. This method is very effective if put into consideration and hence giving and can help curb global warming.
