Aetna. Inc.
Aetna provides advanced benefits to the consumers, businesses, health care professionals, and producers. Aetna is a managed care organization that provides traditional and consumer focused health care insurance plans and associated services including medical, dental, social health, long-term care, and ill health plans. Insurance plans grouped into Bronze, Silver and Gold for individual or family, medical insurance, student insurance and international insurance. Few of the many insurance plans from the company are Aetna Affordable Health Choices, Aetna Choice POS, Aetna Signature Administrators, Aetna Student Health Program, Aetna Savings Plus PPO, and Aetna Open Access Elect Choice .
Depending on the level of the insurance plans such as gold level, silver level and bronze level, the monthly cost of the insurance plan varies. The monthly costs range from $192.10 – 244.65 depending on the health coverage offered. As a patient I would choose the PPO plans because of the freedom of choosing the health care providers and specialists. As an administrator I would choose the Aetna’s private-label health plan as it is a tiered network benefit plan and Aetna as the insurance licensee performs its traditional insurer functions and the health system entertains as the primary in-network provider.
Humana, Inc.
Humana, Inc provides health care through Medical Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Pharmacy, and Medical Coverage. Apart from these insurances Humana, Inc. is into health and wellness through care givers, medical programs, healthy living and health research. The objective of Humana, Inc is to improve community health and well-being through support of nonprofit partners that promote healthy behaviors, health education, and access to health services . Humana has two types of basic plans, PPO (Preferred Provider Organization), HMO (Human Maintenance Organization). In these the various insurance plans are the Humana Gold Choice (PFFS), Humana Gold Plus (HMO) only at Santa Cruz area, Humana Choice PPO, Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plans. For the dental plans the monthly cost of the insurance starts around $14.99 upto $37.00 for the PPO plans.
As a patient I would prefer the Humana Gold Choice (PFFS plan as it offers prescription drug coverage that is equal to the standard requirement for a Medicare, hospitalization coverage, and emergency coverage while traveling. As an administrator I would choose the Humana's Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans as these plans are divided into A – N , and each has its own benefits. These medicare supplement insurance plans A through G have high advantages with higher premiums with limited out-of-pocket costs.
United Health Group
United Health Group (UHG) provides health care services by new approaches, products and services that develop the personal health and focus on healthier populations in regional communities. Insurance plans are for individual, businesses, physicians, and producers. The plans by UHG are business coverage, individual and family, short term health, dental and vision coverage, and medicare. UGH has Medicare Advantage plans to meet a variety of recipient needs and preferences, and monthly premiums offering low cost sharing and nearly 60% of UHG Medicare Advantage members see no change to their monthly premium .
As a patient I would opt for the United Health Group Options PPO plan as it offers coverage at a higher level for network services, and a lower level for non-network services with higher deductibles. As an administrator I would choose to partner with the group insurance plans provided by UHG.
