Shields in his article uses both the interview and examination of published writings to show the deep challenges as a result of multiculturalism on how people conceptualize and diversify the methodological and etymological basis of psychology. Shields considers interview as an important tool to gather data for both historian and psychologists. In addition, the interview method provided a formal approach that allowed interviewee [Clerk] to explain freely about the Clerk’s political and personal stands on integration, and Black Nationalism among other issues. The interview method gave Shields the chance to clarify points that needed to be clear about ethnicity or race.
However, some of the drawbacks of the interview that would be participated involve inaccurate date because the interviewee may forget the key points. Although he was an important figure in the political, social and psychology history, he might be subject to forgetting the main point required in the research. Furthermore, this method relied on the Philip's own sense of judgment that cannot usually provide the best outcome of the research. Shields could have taken other research methods, such as case study, observation and survey to acquire clear and reliable data.
Serlin, on the other hand, uses the survey methodology that involves the use of already conducted interviews among the sexualities in disabled people. Survey method used was anticipated to provide accurate outcomes because Serlin used comparison technique to derive the finest results. The method allows comparison of the interpretation and conclusion raised by Landis and Bolles and the available interviews in the Kinsey Institute for Research, in sex.
The article contains a belief and precise conclusion that synthesis what the author have developed from the analysis of the articles. The conclusion summarizes how the students can use historical analysis to develop the capacity to analyze the preexisting assumptions involved in contemporary research. However, the conclusion could sound better if the author has asked a question either to the reader or to general. This question might help the reader to develop a new perspective on the topic, which they may not have comprehended before reading the conclusion. Such question also helps the audience to bring the author’s ideas together so as to develop a creative meaning concerning the topic. Though, when posing a question on conclusion, the author must have the additional evidence, support and facts for their ideas.
