Many American youngsters (more than 60%) acknowledge their unsafe driving with 50% of these admit to messaging while driving. 421,000 people have been harmed in accidents involving a driver distracted by a cell phone. What is more discouraging is that approximately nine lives are claimed every day by accidents attributed to distracted driving (Williams-Bergen et al.). By creating awareness on this issue particularly for the youngsters, fewer lives will be lost, and the drivers, passengers, and pedestrians will not get harmed.
As part of the Distracted Driving Month, the National Safety Council will be offering a day of creating awareness on the perils of and laws about distracted driving at the University Hall, April 21, 2016.

WHAT: A day of creating awareness on the perils of and laws about distracted driving, free and open to the community.
WHERE: University Hall, 3300 W, Camelback Rd, Phoenix,
WHEN: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2016. The awareness session will last for two hours.
WHY: The event will highlight the dangers of distracted driving particularly among the youngsters and also talk about the laws about distracted driving. “Dangers of Distracted Driving” brochures will be relayed to all the people attending the awareness session.
