Communication Techniques
Abstract
In a society, it is very important for people to communicate in order to have a peaceful co-existence. This is also the same for an organization. The organization behaviour is essential because it guides and improves the behaviours and the attitudes of the people in the organization. This is why the organization theory was formulated. The organization theory has enabled people to form a hierarchy in, which communication occurs from the manager to the normal workers. Feedback was formulated in order for the workers to be able to communicate and provide imputes on important decisions made by the managers. Efficiency is a factor that is useful in ensuring the people have been assigned their specific roles in the company. This shows how effective organization behavioural theory is in ensuring good communication and relations in the organization. The other factors are decision-making approach, and systematic approach.
Introduction
Communication is a very important thing to have in the society. This is because people will be able to understand what the other person wants and needs. Organization behaviour is defined as the field of study that is responsible in explaining and improving people’s behaviours and attitudes in an organization. This field contains many interdisciplinary such as communication, sociology, management and psychology. There have been numerous researches that have been conducted regarding this topic. The findings from some of the researches are what are used in organizations in order to help reduce challenges in that organization. The results from the researches are what brought about the organization behaviour theory. It has been stated that organization behaviour compliments the organization theory (McShane, 2009). This is because it has been stated that the organizational topics are usually complementing the human resource studies. The purpose of the organizational behavioural theory is because of the ways in which it helps individuals in an organization to communicate effectively and efficiently in an organization. The ways to do this is by having feedbacks, scientific leadership, system approach, the human relations approach, decision-making approach, and efficiency in the organization. This shows how very important the organizational behavioural theory is for effective communication and interaction between people in an organization even in the social scene.
It is a well-known fact that in an organization it usually has division of labour. According to most researches that have been conducted about the organization behaviour the results that have come out are that, there are two types of dimensions in organizations performance. The two dimensions are the soft and hard dimensions (Miner, 1980). This proves that the performance of the organizations depends in the hard work put in by the workers and also their attitudes in the work place. In order for an organization to flourish, it is very important for it to have an order such as having a hierarchy. This is because in order to have an effective communication in the company it is important for people in the organization to know the person they respond to and who are working under them. In the hierarchy, the people in the organization are usually organized in a manner where there are leaders and normal workers.
The bigger the organization, the more complex the hierarchy will be in that it will have CEOs, board of directors, the managers, the vice presidents and the CFOs. It is therefore; very important for each of these people to know whom to report to and who they are supposed to be managing (Sapru, 2008). It is a fact that whenever the channels of communication has not been defined the organization will not be able to operate efficiently. In an organization whenever the leadership is very responsive the organization will end up generating profits and the workers will end up being happy people. Whenever the workers are happy, the more work they will end up doing in good faith. This shows how important organization behavioural theory is in ensuring that the organization knows who their leaders are and their functions (Miner, 1980).
The human relations approach
Human relations approach is very important for the organization because it will maintain good communications between the workers. This approach is part of the organization behavioural theory. This kind of approach was noticed after a research was conducted in, which the human factors became a significant thing at an organization that is flourishing. The thing is that the cooperation between workers in the organization is very important. The main factor that causes people to have a good cooperation at the working place is because of the effective communication that they have with one another (McShane, 2009). In having good relations with once co-workers, they are able to have good communications thus, whenever they have conflicting ideas for the company they will be able to come to a compromise thus will end up completing projects that they may have in the company. Good relations should exist between all staff members of a company regardless of one’s positions in the company. When the manager’s relations with the other workers are good, this will be a good thing for the company. The managers will communicate effectively with the other workers in that they will be able to come up with new ideas, which could end up generating good results for the company.
Feedback
According to some of the research conducted about organizational behavioural theory, it found out that having feedback as a communication strategy is very important in increasing the productivity of the organization. It is very important for an organization to have a feedback box where the management will be able to get the worker views about the project being undertaken. In having this feedback box, all the workers in the organization will be able to provide their views without fear of been harassed by the managers (Sapru, 2008). This kind of communication in an organization will help in introducing new and fresh ideas that will help in increasing the profit of the company. According to researches, it has stated that the managers who are refusing to get feedback end up losing fresh ideas that could help in increasing the profits in the organization.
In having both the positive and negative reports from the workers, will help in generating improvement of company’s productivity. The feedbacks will help the workers to also feel a sense of duty because when they are given the opportunity to speak their minds they are able to have a say on some of the things that need to be changed in the company. This will make them work harder, think outside the box, and come up with good and innovative ideas that will help in increasing the profits of the company. In short, the main advantage is that it will increase the morale of the workers as well as with the managers of the organization (Scott, 2007).
Decision making approach
According to some of the research, that have been conducted the decision making approach is very important in a company. The results of the research indicated how the organization behaviour theory is applicable. In applying the theory, the people are able to communicate in a manner that will help in increasing organizations profits. This way the goal achievement decisions are decided so that it could help in increasing the productivity of the company. In decision-making approach, it is very important for the people to have a good communication so that they can be able to formulate the best plans that will help the company to flourish (Stephen. & Tim, 2013). This means that there should be a compromise between the managers and the workers so that they can be able to come up with the best solutions to problems that might exist in the organization. The people who are usually selfish are required to change their views for the good of the company. This means that they must sacrifice their selfish needs and channel their thoughts on important decisions that might help the company.
System approach
The system approach is very effective in a company. This is because it is used to measure the behaviour that is in the organization and the process of input and output the people working in the organization will portray. In an organization, the processes that drive the company include the management that is responsible in the outcome of the product and those responsible in the output are the workers (Scott, 2007). This shows how effective it is for these two to communicate in order to be able to come up with a good solution. Communication in this approach is a vital organ in order to make sure the company is able to come up with effective results. The organization behavioural therapy is very important in order to ensure that the communication between the two is effective. The other workers in an organization include the finance and human resources, cleric workers and the people who use their hands for work. All these people need one another in order for them to do their jobs effectively.
Efficiency
Efficiency is a very good thing for an organization to have. This is because when a company is very efficient then the results that will come out will be very productive. This was stated by Dean & Paul, (2013) who wrote the book about International Organizational Behavior: Transcending Borders and Cultures. Efficiency requires good communication in order for it to work. In the efficiency, the organization is able to organize works and give tasks to the people who are good at those jobs. This will help in reducing the time wastage and wastage of efforts of others. The employment of a specific task to people in an organization will help in increasing the profits of the company. When the profit of the organization increases so does the payment of the workers. The increase of payments for the workers will give the workers morale in that they will continue to work even harder. The fact that efficiency works hand in hand with good communication it, therefore, ensures that the progress being initiated in the company will be provided to the people. This is because the company will use a channel that will make it easy for people to know about the progress of the company as well as the decisions it is making for the future and good of the people (Dean & Paul, 2013).
In conclusion, the communication techniques in this research paper have been guided by the organizational behavioural theory. In an organization, there are different people from different backgrounds who come together for a common purpose of increasing profit to the organization. One of the major factors that are very essential is communication. This is because, with communication, the people are able to interact and find better solutions that need to be implemented in order to increase productivity of the company. Feedback is a communication technique that is very useful in the organization. The reason for this is that the workers are able to provide their full view of a decision made in the organization. This feedback will be used to address some of the problems that may be encountered. The workers will have a morale to continue doing their jobs because their views are being heard and sometimes implemented. The hierarchy is also an important factor for an organization. This is because it is used to branch out the workers into their specific jobs. The communication will run from the top person in the company to the bottom person. It is very important for the workers in an organization to know who they are in charge off and the person they are supposed to report to in the company.
