Patient-centered care for older adults
The United States healthcare sector faces the challenge of the increasing number of citizens aged 65 years and above. The population poses a great threat to the delivery of care because the sector needs to establish strategies for ensuring every old adult receives appropriate care both at home and in hospital. Moreover, the government experiences an ever-ending pressure on the budgetary allocation for the older adults because the provision of high quality care goes hand-in-hand with resources in form of people and equipment. Older adults encounter many problems that affect their individual well-being. Patient-centered care acts as the most significant approach towards solving health issues for older adults. It highly relates to quality by embracing patient-centeredness and follows an evidence-based approach that focuses on individual needs of the population.
On the other hand, healthcare professionals encounter numerous challenges providing care to the older adults. More than 50 percent of old adults living in the US suffer from one or more chronic condition; hence, demanding special care. Healthcare providers establish comprehensive interventions and strategies aimed at solving common syndromes affecting the older population through best clinical management approaches.
Caring for oneself as a MRS student professional
Evidence gathered about caring for the older adult’s shows that the young people should prepare for the future by taking good care of their health. Poor diets and lack of engagement in exercise activities during young and adult age causes most chronic conditions affecting the older populations. MRS student professionals would learn on the various professional skills that they would use in the definition of medical success. Activities such as radiotherapy and medical imaging would be practical measures that the individuals would use to ensure success of their practices.
