I strongly agree with the choice of the development stage. The main reason why I agree is because, as a matter of fact, sensory motor is the foundation of all the other stages. For instance, the pre-operation can never come before the sensory motor. As such, the occurrence of all the others depends greatly on the sensory motor. Secondly, I think that this is the most interesting stage of development. Apparently, it is the stage associated with exploration as the child seeks to learn new things. As opposed to the pre-operation stage, the concrete operations and the formal operations, the sensory motor stage considers everything new – a factor that makes every bit of sensory motor become interesting.
I feel that my classmate was right in their explanations and arguments. This is mainly because, according to the research I have carried out, their arguments are fact-filled. This is particularly conspicuous where the features of the stage are explained. Secondly, the arguments given are logical. For instance, he says that sensory motor is the most important because it is the foundation of all other stages. This is logically justifiable because the stages occur in a chronological manner. It therefore follows that the higher sages cannot exist without there being the base stage.
In my opinion, the sensory motor should come earlier. Having mentioned above that the stages occur in a chronological manner, it is a matter of common thinking that the earlier the first stage comes, the earlier an individual is ushered into the second one. Coming later in life would make a person not develop normally because if the sensory motor was to come later, people would not be as free as to explore their environment fully. In line with the thinking of my classmate, therefore, I maintain that sensory motor is the most important. Even so, all the other stages are equally important.
