In a lot of regards, the sexualty in human beings in the contemporary world is no different than that of their ancestors’ times. If seen from a biological perspective, the process of human reproduction is as similar as it has been since the beginning of human race. In addition, human sexualty is also signifcantly affected by the culture and religion. In the modern times, public policies have also contributed greatly in shaping human sexualty and related subjects. It would not be incorrect to state that the new era has developed greater awareness about various dimensions related to sexualty and sexual ethics.
The behavioral and moral ethics that are applicable and pertinent to human beings consist of sexual morals as well. Such sexual ethics constitute a number of social norms, traditions, personal habits and conduct, attitudinal patterns, and religious beliefs. These ethics are directly associated with human sexual instinct. There are various features, practices, and characteristics of sexual ethics that play a great role in shaping peoples’ morality regarding sex (Muṭahharī 7).
For instance, marriage is considered as one of the most important institution in every culture and religion around the world. Every society regards marriage as the desirable moral responsibility of human beings (Muṭahharī 7). In the same manner, every society grants specific sexual rights to human beings as their basic rights. These include individual liberty and social privileges. It is significant for human beings to realize that human rights and responsibilities related to sex are exceedingly essential to consider for everyone including the individual themselves, spouses, children, families, communities, and the State. It is desirable that every human being understands and respects his unique sexual roles and responsibilities. In the similar fashion, every individual is also required to revere the sexual status and rights of other human beings. It is particularly reasonable to respect the sexual standing and rights of the sexual partners. This is because the ethical basis for sexuality and related behaviors is based on the interpretation of sexual conduct. The main principles that must be followed by every mature human being include “1) sexual relationships and the right to choose one's partner; 2) sexual expression and the right to seek pleasure; 3) sexual consequences and the right to cooperation from one's partner; 4) sexual harm and the right to protection; and 5) sexual health and the right to information, education and health services” (Dixon-Mueller, Germain, Fredrick & Bourne 111).
It is extremely important to incorporate the mentioned ethical principles into sex education, services pertaining to sexual health, and prevalent public policies that aim to promote the physical and psychological wellbeing of all human beings. This is important to apply all ethical principles regardless of age, sexual orientation, gender, religious beliefs, marital status, racial background or ethnicity, and any other specific distinguishing feature such as language (Dixon-Mueller, Germain, Fredrick & Bourne 111).
It is required of thr governments throughout the world to develop a safe and protected enviroment for the inhabitanats whereby every citizen’s sexual rights are protected. It is the obligation of the State to propose and create an efficient and effective policy framework to protect all people from sexual harm. In addition, the State has also the responsibility to guarantee sexual freedoms and liberty to all citizens irrespective of their age, gender, sexual orientation, marital staus, racial background, nationality, and additional social features and identities. Furthermore, it is obligatory for the the State to distinguish that all people are familiar with and practice their sexual rights and enjoy similar benefits related to their sexual health and protection (Dixon-Mueller, Germain, Fredrick & Bourne 116).
Similarly, it is also necessary for the people to develop an open-minded approach towards acknowledging and accepting sexual rights and responsibilities of other people. It is the high time for people to understand that sexual ethics form an integral part of the global society. Therefore, ethical guidelines must be encouraged to educate people on issues related to sex and sexualty (Dixon-Mueller, Germain, Fredrick & Bourne 117).
