This vignette constitutes sexual harassment. First Scott’s secretary wears very provocative clothes that are indicates sexual harassment. The sexual harassment in this situation is based on display of explicit sexual materials, and the secretary is guilty of sexually harassing Scott in this scenario since she is exposing her body to Scott in a suggestive manner. Sexual harassment is also evident in the case that the secretary touches Scott and even brushes closely past him while in the hall. In this scenario, the form of sexual harassment is physical in nature due to the reason that it involves physical touching and also sexual advances form of harassment, of which Scott is not comfortable.
The secretary is also indirectly asking for a favor from Scott that is a form of sexual harassment. It is not healthy to ask Scott to continue work after dinner as he may make un-intended moves towards the secretary. Conversations that are not related to work should not be part of a business topic while in a professional work scenario. However, the new secretary shifts the conversations to personal from business topics. This is a form of verbal sexual harassment since the topics are suggestive in nature and thus can make Scott be uncomfortable being around the new secretary while working.
If the Scott were to be the individual taking the actions of the secretary, the situation would not change. This is because, all genders are responsible for sexual harassment in relation to the types of action involved. Touching or brushing the new secretary would be out of her will hence, an offense of sexual harassment. Asking the new secretary to stay after dinner for work against her will is also a form of sexual harassment and thus, Scott would have committed sexual harassment too if the situation were reversed.
