Sexually Abused Teens
Sexually abused teens are the teenagers who have faced problems of sexual mistreatment. Sexual abuse is a social issue that has affected many people even more than what people may think (Carter, 2002). It is therefore necessary to come up with a group, which will help to deal with the issues of sexual abuse in the society. This group will educate and help teens to curb and deal with sexual abuse cases that may befall them. The teens need to be informed on the effects of sexual abuse and the circumstances under which they can fall prey to sexual abusers. They should also be informed on the best ways of dealing with sexual abuse cases in the society. In this connection, a group formed to address the social issue of the sexually abused teens in the society will be essential because it will help to prevent and deal with sexual abuse cases among the teenagers.
The Role of the Leader
A leader has to be appointed to lead the group in handling issues related to sexual abuse among teenagers. This leader will play various roles in order to enhance the success of the group. One of the roles of the leader will be guiding and managing the rest of the group members. It is the duty of the group leader to share duties among the group members and guide them on how to perform the duties assigned to them. The leader will also help in the group’s decision making in order to ensure that the group achieves all its set targets. Mentoring the other group members is another role of the leader. The leader will have to mentor other group members in order to reach the set goals and targets of the group (Carter, 2002). Moreover, the leader will monitor the operation of the group including how funds will be spent in the group. The other roles of the group leader will include educating, advising and encouraging the other group members for efficiency purposes.
The techniques and strategies for intervention
Various techniques and strategies will be used for intervention in this group. During the group interventions, the use of open-ended questions will be applied in order to enhance effective discussions. Another useful technique will include encouraging all the members of the group to ask questions related to sexually abused teens. This will help to ensure that all the group members have a good understanding of the aims and objectives of the group (Chen, & Christopher, 2003). The leader will also respond positively whenever a group member contributes to the group. The other technique for intervention in this group is giving full attention to the group members as they make their contribution. This will help all members to feel valued and appreciated in the group. As a result, they will improve their efforts in curbing and handling sexual abuse cases among the teens. Other important intervention techniques will include use of clear statements, refraining from negative comments about the views of other members and confirming members’ ideas among other techniques. These techniques will used together with strategies such as effective communication and good leadership in order to ensure that the group achieves its set goals (Chen, & Christopher, 2003).
The process of goal setting
The process of goal setting in the organization will start by making sure that each of the members of the group understands the aims and objectives of the group. In the present case, the aim of the group is to curb and deal with sexual abuse cases among the teens. The process of goal setting will thus include the identification of goals, which are in line with the aims of the group (Chen, & Christopher, 2003). As a result, the goals of the group will involve reducing sexual abuse among the teens and helping the affected teens with the problem of sexual abuse in the society.
The process of intrapersonal and interpersonal dynamics
In order to handle sexual abuse issues among the teens in the society, the group will have to understand the process of interpersonal and interpersonal dynamics. Intrapersonal dynamics will include the things that an individual member will think about and do about the group. These things ought to have been given a good thought in order to ensure that they are for the benefit of the entire group (Chen, & Christopher, 2003). On interpersonal dynamics, the group will have a close monitoring of the connection between the various members of the group in order to ensure that such connections do not affect the group’s operation. In this connection, the process of both intrapersonal and interpersonal group dynamics will include making sure that all the relationships between the group members help to reach the group’s targets.
Termination and evaluation of the group
This group will have a crucial role in the society. As a result, it will not be good to terminate the group before it accomplishes its set goals and objectives. This is to suggest that, the termination of the group will only come when the group is entirely successful. In addition, a good evaluation of the group’s performance will help to know whether it has met its targets (Chen, & Christopher, 2003). In this connection, the level of sexual abuse cases among the teens will be examined against the level of such cases at the beginning of the group. This will help in evaluating the group’s performance.
