The responsibility of fighting against same-sex marriage rests with all and sundry. Gay marriages not only have lasting consequences to the parties advocating for it but also to their communities, nations of their residence and the entire world. For instance, gay men are at a high risk of contracting sexually transmitted ailments since they have a firm belief that such diseases are no longer life-threatening. Additionally, homosexuality can lead to a decrease in the birth rates in a given society while any typical country requires a stable human population base to function properly. In other words, by legalizing same-sex marriage, everybody whether for or against it will either be directly or indirectly harmed. Most of the negative consequences of gay marriage in the society will be manifested in the long run, but many of them will become evident in the short-term. Despite the many drawbacks associated with the same sex marriage, some people do support it. Some advocators argue that gay marriage acknowledges the requirement of equality and fairness in the society. Some people also say that two men should be allowed to formalize their cordial relationship just like any other association. Besides, some gay men argue that different individuals have differing religious believes; therefore, everybody should not be tied down by the law of a country by religion and moral understandings. This article argues against gay practices by exploring the lasting consequences of the vice at the personal, national and the global level. It also explains their perceptions of homosexuality marriages which have taken root in some countries where they are legalized.
Religions that have allowed same-sex marriages have considerably influenced many people in the world who have a firm believe that homosexuality is against the law of God (Cannon, & Justin 2009). The latter category argues that since time immemorial, marriage was ordained by God and should only be between two parties of the opposite gender. It is a covenant between a male and female and meant primarily for procreation. Opponents, further, say that homosexuality is an immoral act and should be denounced at all levels. They view marriage as a relationship which is governed and controlled by natural law (Siker, & Jeffrey 2007). They argue against it since it lacks all the typical characteristics of a marriage wedlock between a man and a woman. For instance, it does not carry on the perpetuation of the human race since two people of a similar sex cannot give raise to children. Besides, gay men are associated with other vices such as sexual harassment and participation in other immoral activities not in line with the requirements and expectations of God. On the other hand, the gay advocates propose an entirely different idea of union between two people of the same sex. This vice denies the natural and physiological disparities that exist between a man and a woman which get their harmonization in a marriage wedlock (Francoeur, & Robert 2002). In connection to this, homosexuality denies the main reason of marriage that is nurturing of children and the continuation of humanity. It’s a common perception that a wedding companionship should give raise to children for it to be regarded as a productive association. Besides, same-sex relationships repudiate children either a mother or father or both. Studies have revealed that one among the leading causes of single parenthood is homosexuality which deprives the children of either parent’s role model (Carroll, Robert P, and Stephen 2008). In connection to this, children brought up by homosexual parents also tend to emulate them and become lesbians or gays in their adulthood. Summarily, homosexuality does not initiate a family rather an inherently murky union which should not be given the benefits of a real marriage relationship between a man and a woman (Boswell, &John in the ancient times. The vice has come along with other detrimental consequences which are gradually transforming to a global burden if not adequately curbed (Moore, Gareth, 2003).
Marriage between people of the same sex have mushroomed in many sovereignties as a result of government legalizing it and people’s attitude towards it as normal and healthy. This vast prevalence of homosexuality in many countries has led to a gradual national transformation process which is negatively harming the larger society (Evans, & Kelley, 2004).Gay marriages have contributed to detrimental national pandemics whereby a majority of sexually transmitted diseases victims are gay men (Spurlin, 2009). This, in turn, has increased the overall national expenditure since many resources are used to curb and control the spread of the STIs. Such resources could be directed to other productive sectors to improve the living standards of individuals in a country. Moreover, a majority of the homosexuals are young and productive people expected to be highly involved in the development of processes (Bronski, 2011). Unfortunately, STDs and other same-sex repercussions lower their life expectancy, thus depriving the countries of their essential elements of initiating economic growth and development. In a nutshell, homosexuality directly slows down development and progression of a country’s economy (Sigal, 2003). Gay men are also associated with other immoralities such as criminal activities which burden a society even more. Further, gays endorse homosexual lifestyles among individuals in a country that has legalized it (Than, 2010). This in turn violates the citizens’ general perception of marriage its meaning and importance. The homosexual vice contributes to confusion among citizens since they do not clearly comprehend the true sense of a marriage relationship. This is common to parents with desires to bring up their children with high moral standards (Wackerfuss, 2015). Additionally, homosexual unions do not give raise to a child, a significant benefit to society. This leads to a decrease in a country’s general population while a given nation requires a stable population size in order to operate properly. An underpopulated country is prone to problems like underdevelopment and lack of adequate resources to grow its economy. Concisely, homosexuality subjects a country to uncountable problems closely associated with the vice and all nations should come up with stringent measures to terminate it (Ormsbee, 2010).
Homosexual advocators tend to depict their gay lives as standard and healthy, and argue that their relationships are more or less the same to those of heterosexuals. However, the reality is that gay men are highly prone to sexually transmitted infections like HIV/AIDs, which greatly endanger their lives (Whitaker, 2010).Such deadly diseases drastically reduce their life expectancies and die premature deaths. Further, these severe infections subject them to stigma and trauma thus leading lives of hopelessness and disillusionment. Besides, homosexual associations are often unstable and promiscuous, which further increase the occurrences of the severe and incurable ailments like gonorrhea and syphilis since they tend to have many sex partners at the same time. Gay sex is commonly associated with other vices and immoralities such as the use of deadly drugs and criminal activities. Continuous drug abuse subject them to other risks like diseases and sometimes participate in other immoral behaviors. Homosexuals, also, commonly suffer from family rejections and refusals since their behaviors are considered immoral and nobody wants to be associated with them. Such harassments subject them to psychological problems which sometimes lead to suicide. Post distressing and disorder are the typical results of bullying and mistreatments of homosexuals (Gay, 2014). Homosexuality can also have a long-lasting problem to the academic life of the parties involved especially if they are students. Bullying and harassment by their fellow colleagues and instructors subject them to unbearable mental torture and finally opt to drop from school. Conversely, institutions and organizations whose policies denounce the vice of homosexuality can easily force a gay man to go off their companies since they view it as unlawful and an immoral behavior (Nijkamp,2016).This will eventually subject the victim to other financial problems and challenges which he might not be able to cope. In other words, same sex marriages have unending effects to the life of an individual such as ailments, harassments, and seclusion by the family members.
Nevertheless, some people strongly support and argue for the idea of same sex marriage since it has some positive consequences at the global, national and personal level. Homosexuality acknowledges the concept of equality and fairness in the society. The practice aids in curbing gender bias and promotes equality by enabling both men and women to have equal chances pertaining marriage wedlock. In addition, homosexuality enables an individual to evict all responsibilities of a family which sometimes may be deemed irrelevant. For example, without children, one can maximize and concentrate more on his personal requirements such as education and growth in his financial base. Further, it enables them to relish legal security since some countries have legalized the practice. Besides, same-sex marriage allows an individual to get engaged to the person they love most without being restricted by any notion, believe or tradition.
On the other hand, same sex marriages have aided in immensely in the reduction of a country’s general population. The fact that no children raised in a homosexuality wedlock has contributed to this phenomena. An adequately small population in a country is easily managed and governed by the federal government. A marriage wedlock between people of the opposite sex has contributed to large population growths in many nations, and it is a common perception that excessively large populations are highly associated with poverty, criminal activities like abortions among others. This can in return assist a nation to achieve its economic goals and objectives with ease. The practice also helps in reducing government expenditure on the citizens. For example, it does not incur excessive costs of providing medical services to infants and expectant mothers since such occurrences are limited.
Homosexuality also allows human equality and acceptance of different individuals irrespective of their religious believes, race or originality. Homosexuality practices have enabled people to comprehend the concept of Bisexual Transgender Gay Lesbian (BTGL), which is a global practice by people from different backgrounds and with varying believes (Hopcke, Robert , & Jung, 2002). Same sex marriage is no longer a concealed type of marriage but open and even legalized in some sovereignties. Homosexuality is gradually transforming the world to a place of free will, where people are no longer led and controlled by archaic believes and considerations.
Summarily, despite the few advantages, same sex marriages usually have long lasting consequences to the person practicing it, nation and the world as a whole. The majority of believers firmly argue against the vice by saying that it is not in line with the expectations of God to humankind. They state that marriage was ordained by God and should only be between a man and a woman and not people of the same sex. Advocators deny the physiological and psychological differences between a man and woman, which can only be harmonized if the two marry and become one. They further state that marriage is primarily meant for procreation and perpetuation of the human race, an essential verity not met in a gay relationship. Such factors have considerably influenced the world and homosexuality should be denounced. At the national level, homosexuality has affected economies of many countries both directly and indirectly. This is due to the fact, nations use much of their resources attempting to curb problems which come along with widespread homosexuality. Such problems include diseases among the youth, drug abuse and other costs the federal government incurs to create awareness and end the vice of homosexuality. Additionally, same-sex often severely affect the gay men’s lives. They are subject to deadly ailments like HIV, syphilis and gonorrhea which endanger their lives. They are denied, harassed and isolated by their family members who view them as social misfits and not worth associating with. Homosexuality, is a vice and everybody rests with the responsibility of fighting against it.
