Six Anti-malware Techniques
Internet has brought a whole new world of resources to our access merely by a single click of the mouse. However, it has also brought with it a host of problems and one of those problems includes malware. Use of anti-malware techniques is of the essence if the speed of the computer and privacy is to be maintained.
First and foremost, the user needs to install anti-virus and anti-spyware software on the computer (Kroenke). This will alert the user if any virus or spy-ware is detected on the spot. Secondly, in order to ensure that none of the malwares is missed, the anti-virus and anti-spyware software should be set to scan the system frequently (Kroenke) automatically. The frequency is, usually, prescribed by the user by changing the settings of the software. Thirdly, it is crucial to update the malware definitions regularly. Only if the anti-malware software is aware of the latest malware definitions will it be able to detect any unusual activity (Kroenke).
The user should also make sure that the e-mails that he/she opens are from known sources. E-mails from unknown sources should be ignored because they are often carriers of spyware or virus (Kroenke). The user should also not hesitate to install software updates from legitimate sources. These updates, usually, provide built-in protection. Lastly, the user should make sure to make use of internet only in reputable neighborhoods and abstain from using wireless internet from completely unknown signal sources (Kroenke).
