PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Personal Development Plan.
The personal professional development programme has been a success that has instilled new values that relate to work environments and in the completion of tasks. Various skills have been imparted that includes the use of objectives. Objectivity is a short and long term goal that has opened up an array of opportunities that closely relate to the achievement and attainment of targets. The use of proper budgets and schedules are of fundamental importance as they provide a track record of the financial prudency and work schedules that are a minimum requirement in having a successful professional development goal. Time management has however been a challenge that will be overcome through learning of time management strategies that are to be met.
Problems encountered in the workplace include the issue on cultural barriers. Working with different individuals exposes one to different cultures that are predominant and prevalent among the different individuals. Cultural barriers are accustomed by differences that occur due to the various areas that individuals originate from. However cultural barriers can easily be broken as there are several methods through which there can be an aversion of the negative influences that are characterised due to cultural barriers. Different people perceive thing in various ways thus there is need to ensure that despite the differences there is harmony in the workplace Common misunderstandings were brought about by language differences and character changes that are highly dependent on the background of an individual. Hostilities may also arise in the workplace due to the different nature of individuals in the same setting. Behaviours may be consistent with the perceived background of the individual. Misunderstandings may also arise among different individuals as there is change in behavioural trends and the cultural norm one is often accustomed to live with. To deal with these cultural barriers that were existence in the working areas there was use of tolerance instilled into most individuals as part of the cultural norms that should be in existence in the day to day lives of employees to learn to live and tolerate each other.
Low motivation and job satisfaction are also some of the problems that were existent in the work environment. Employees need to feel motivated to be able to perform their tasks more effectively. Low job satisfaction is as a consequence of poor management practices that do not incorporate the need of the employees in the human resource management field. The effects of low job satisfaction could be witnessed in the company as tasks were often left undone or completed in a poor manner. Job stress is a common cause of poor employee’s satisfaction and this mainly entails scenarios where employees are not happy with the work they are undertaking. Work enjoyment is critical in the creation of satisfaction for jobs. Job satisfaction through relieving of stress can be achieved through methods that include different tasks. Repetition is a common stress causer that eventually leads to the lack of satisfaction for the employer. Work enjoyment enhances the working prospects of individuals and diminishes the feelings of dissatisfaction. Productivity is affected due to low job motivation (Martin 2005). Basic human nature entails the use of motivation to spur job satisfaction though when there is no satisfaction in work tasks are not completed efficiently. Dissatisfaction greatly affects the willingness to produce and deliver quality goods.
Morale is an important aspect of job satisfaction. Poor job morale from an employee may quickly affect others in an organisation as witnessed in the workplace. Attitudes are central in the upholding of morale therefore it is necessary to create attitude changing activities and morale building exercises especially in an organisation. Positive attitudes are created through good rapports and continual tem building efforts that are central to the management of attitudes and behaviours of employees. Low job satisfaction in the workplace led to high turnover rates among employees. Employees are constantly looking for new opportunities that fit their basic skills and requirements. Management should devise strategies that ensure that low employee turnover rates are not existent especially if this is voluntary from the employees. When dealing with these problems in the workplace there is need to foster employee relations as the solutions consist of inclusivity of employees. Personal and professional development asserts that there is need to possess the aforementioned traits and reduce the negative effects that are accustomed to employee dissatisfaction (Lishman 1998). Scorecards in the area of work ensured that goals are met in the long run and short run of activities carried out. Personal growth in one’s career provides the desired growth parameters in work areas to maintain a considerable level of professional advancement.
