Sky Essay Sample

It is above us, it is bigger, stronger and wider than we can imagine. It is following us wherever we go and no matter how far we go. It is there as silent witness just observing us. But we are down on Earth and we want to go up, we always want to go up.
How many times we wanted something, how many times we asked for miracle? “The child looks upwards at the blue sky above (Bandeira).” And how little we looked inside, for our own strength, wisdom and power? People can do amazing things, but they need to try it. They need to wish for it, to look for it, but vital is to do it. First step is to look what kind of resources are there, what is available for use, and how can be used. Second step is to use those possessions and to do something with them.
It can be hard and there can be many illusions on the way. According to Alan Wilson: “I have realized that the past and future are real illusions, that they exist in the present, which is what there is and all there is.” Many rocks and obstacles, many problems and dark caves. It is well know “that grass is always greener on the other side (dictionary)”. But do we really know this side? Many times I caught myself as a kid who “lifts his tiny hand and longs to touch the sky (Bandeira)”. I found out that many times I am looking through my fingers to the sky, completely not aware of existence of my hand. I see what is far but not what is near, what I have, what is really and truly part of me. How little body is appreciated by its owner.
It is hard to know real strength without testing it. Hiking is great example, being on one hill and trying to reach another. It is reasonable to doubt, to be frightened to maybe even think that is too far or too high or not reachable at all. But it is more than essential to give it a try, to run for it, to start walking and reaching for the top.
It is hard to “reach it, when he holds it in his hand (Bandeira).” The kid is holding it, he is master of it, it is already with him and it is already there. He can stop his search, no need to look upward to the sky because sky is closer than he can imagine, he is holding it in his hand. Before one can reach the top of the mount, he will need to admit his legs. Next is only to keep walking.
