1. Douglass’s main point stated that Independence Day cannot be considered a holiday as the problem of slavery has not yet been solved. This speech discovers the conflict between the slave mentality and human formation, between the state of mental, spiritual emptiness and longing for freedom. I agree with his speech because Douglas preached the idea of unity and indivisibility of the country, which is necessary for a true patriot and a loyal citizen. He believed that every citizen should be interested primarily in the development of the nation and the state as a whole which is incompatible with slavery. Impossible to be a a blind follower of personal geographical origin. This speech arouses compassion for the slaves and convicts abuse people.
2. I looked Episode: 1. Meet Lizzie Mae where Lizzie told about the hard life of George Washington's house maids. She said that she worked for free 18 hours a day, all the conditions have greatly contributed to the emergence of antagonism and ill-treatment. Everything in that house existed within racial hatred, which was based on inexorably clearly marked difference in color, the white man has always been the master, and the black was a slave.
3. Escaping slaves faced many challenges as the attempt to escape punished the extension of slavery. A slave who escaped was considered outside the law, and any white person could kill him without warning. Everywhere were published codes of penalties and control for slaves. Also after a failed escape slave should recover the costs that the master has spent in search and capture. Escaping slaves can use the code words that would help to identify the fugitives in the Underground Railroad. If I were the slaves I would turn for help to the Quakers who often volunteered in the Underground Railroad as they denied slavery.
