The potential issues in a college are when major events take place. During such events a criminal may bring explosives such as a gun into the field. The administrator is not present in the field during such events.

The campus operation police who are in charge of response is suppose to notify the patrolling police who then evacuates only those in the field and leave those in the room for example the students and the staff. The campus population is notified by use of incident command centre (ICC) .The authorized police undertake the evacuation order. Yes the event could have been prevented by the metal detector by producing different alarms during screening. Other security concerns are the unauthorized persons in campus.

Yes police could have been allowed to investigate the threat. If the ICC was activated prior to the game less victims could have been reported. There was inadequate police. Absence of law -enforcement gave the shooter confidence to shoot. Other options include adequate security, metal detectors, activation of ICC and strict entry checking. The most plausible is adequate police and most effective is metal detector.

Yes, learning what is supposed to be done in case of a danger. Police can be provided with adequate metal detectors and proper training. Campus security, unarmed security and police are supposed to work together. The campus security and unarmed security respond to the media as they have first hand information. This meets the emergency, disaster and crisis criteria as it reduces danger chances.
