The invention of smartphones has revolutionized the development of mobile phone applications, popularly known as Mobile Apps. The invention of mobile apps has enabled other functionalities such as playing games, use of mobile web browsers and invention of chat-oriented platforms. There are two major categories of mobile apps, namely: Android Apps and Apple Apps. Android is a mobile phone operating system available in a wide range of phones and most popular globally. It is the largest platform for mobile phones, and the growth has been tremendous over the recent past. Additionally, it provides a world-class platform for developing apps and games for its users. It also provides an open marketplace called Playstore where apps developers can share out their apps at a fee or for free. Conversely, Apple has also been at the forefront developing mobile apps for its users. Apple apps are specifically used in iPhones, iPads, and iPods.
The Apps I like the most include WhatsApp Messenger, Truedialer, The Google Maps, and Healthy Recipes Free. Others include Apple apps like Back2Gether, Things, Fitness Buddy, and Find My iPhone. WhatsApp Messenger is a smartphone app available for both Droid and Apple platforms. It uses Wi-Fi or 3G networks to enable instant messaging, sharing of pictures, videos, and even audio notes. Truedialer is a Droid App that helps find numbers in the phonebook in a simple and easy way using the numeric pad. The apps provide instant access to any information about the people I intend to call, and allows me to save the information for later use. The Google Maps app also allows me to navigate my locality, and find directions as fast as possible. Healthy Recipes is one of the best apps I use daily; it provides me with information on the best recipes essential in keeping fit and healthy. The Apple platform provides apps like Things. The app acts like a task manager allowing one to schedule a day’s activity with ease. The Fitness Buddy is an Apple app that provides a wide range of exercises tips essential in keeping healthy and fit. The Find My Phone app allows one to locate a lost iPad or iPhone using any iOS device. Hence, one can protect the data in the phone even if it is lost. Finally, I like the Back2Gether app. The app allows one to trace a missing pet. The app allows one to report a missing pet in an interactive map. Hence, when people around spot the pet; they can inform the owner through SMS or mail. The app once helped me trace my missing cat.
Continuous efforts are being put in by developers to create better apps for the future. More efforts should be channeled towards developing apps that can assist physically challenged persons. For instance, an app that can assist a blind person in conducting his or her day-to-day activities like cooking food at the right temperature should be developed. Such an app would work in a way that it informs the person of the food is ready to serve. Additionally, the app could allow a person to know the refrigeration temperature for strong food. Such an app would require large print, audible format and Braille to make it work for both smartphones in Droid and Apple platforms.
Another area that needs concentration is the development of independent apps that will manage secure online transactions. Developers should come up with apps that will enable people make significant online payments, transfer money and verify identities of the sender and recipient at the comfort of your couch. Such apps would enable one pay for a flight, pay for online delivery of goods among other activities. Additionally, I would suggest coming up with apps to identify the physical location of friends. The phone has become a popular way of people lying about their exact locations. Such an app would display the exact location of a person during a call. The app can also work in such a way that when you visit a place like a restaurant, it gives you a list of friends who just visited the same place. The app then should allow you to view their reviews and comments about the place. I believe such apps would work towards making life better and simpler.
I have gained much knowledge in the world of mobile apps from this assignment. First, it gave me an opportunity to conduct further research on the apps I like, and identify new features that I have never known. For instance, through the assignment, I have found out more details about the Healthy Recipe app that were not known to me earlier. Secondly, the assignment gave me a chance to have a look at both the Droid and Apple apps, and identify their superiority. I have found out from the research that Apple has over 230, 000 apps while android only has around 70,000 apps. However, the android platform is the most widely used around the world. Finally, the assignment offered a chance to preview the future of both android and apple apps. Through the preview, I have learned that more still needs to be done to make better apps that would make life easier and simpler.
The new business tools have come in handy in making business transactions easier and efficient. Finding the right business tools that can match your firm can be a difficult task, but the rewards are great. Businesses can incorporate the new tools to improve service delivery and, hence, spur customer satisfaction. That will translate to higher returns. The business tools are also important for businesses in streamlining human resource operations. Such tools can enable a business to recruit the best talent with much ease. The new business tools can also be used in attaining optimum customer satisfaction. For the purposes of long-term growth, businesses should utilize customized business tools that are in line with their daily operations. I believe that the new business tools if used appropriately, can lead to improved performance of the business.
