Introduction
A society consists of unequal opportunities and rewards for different social statuses in the society. There are different dimensions of social inequality such as income, wealth, occupational prestige, ancestry, race, caste and power. Poor cannot be blamed for their wealth because it’s not in their hand to move up; there are other social factors too such as presence of opportunities, motivation, skills or schooling later finding work. Society, its governing bodies and their set of rules are the reasons to blame a society as responsible for poverty. (Brooks, 2014)
Income inequality affects social equality and social unity
Different opportunities and people efforts result in social inequality. Social inequality affects choices of education and occupations. A set of IMF studies found that negative affect growth and its sustainability rises due to income inequality. There is an inverse relation between the income share between rich and economic growth. The income inequality drivers affect the choices of living and education standards for poor people too. (Norris, Kochhar, Suphaphiphat, Ricka, Tsounta, 2015)
Social inequality today
Social Inequality is damaging the successful countries such as U.S. and Canada through the wealth gaps prevailing between difference classes of their society. Brooks (2014) has discussed various factors such as the prevalence of wealth in the hands of top 5% workers only and it stays within the same circle. Every class is stuck within the same limits due to high dropout rates, less low-skilled jobs. Basically, the poor people are not paid justly according to their efforts, so increasing wages cannot affect everyone. Social inequality today is due to lack of primary education, unjust distribution of chances, less jobs, and broken families etc (fortune.com,2015).
Reasons due to which social inequality reflect inequality in AmericaRay Williams (2011) stated Social Inequality is damaging the successful countries such as U.S. and Canada through the wealth gaps prevailing between difference classes of their society. Reports by Wall street journal show US to be economically stratified country in the western world. A triple effect in the wealth difference between Americans and middle/working class has been observed during past three decades. The reasons to the issue lie in the tax breaks for middle and poor class. A major portion of people believe recession to be the only reason behind the downfall (Ballantine, Roberts 2012).
Issues of stratification
Stratification is based upon categorical distributions, unequal portions of resources according to the status of people and valued sources of a society depend upon the type of that community. The key issues involved in it are based upon the discrimination of people within group and classes. Due to this reason, money, rank and resources stay within some particular groups. Due to this reason, chances of a class raise, poverty decrease and equal educational uplift lowers. People with cultural and social capital get the resources. Countries like Haiti have least number of jobs, education standards and other lively sources; which is the perfect example of stratification. Some conflicting theories state stratification as a result of dominance ;and result due to massive economic transformations. Karl Max presented solution to all those problems through different ways. Type of inequality in America:
Astorga (2015), states that in America we can observe functional inequality which is visible through the assembled wage data sheet. It is also a reason of increased polarization. Sherman (2015) states America to be on the highest wealth accumulated country as their wealth distribution process is not increasing. The wealth inequality of America is above then income inequality.
