The effects of social networks on the modern day communication cannot be overlooked due to the impact it has made to the communication processes. The effect of social networks on communication is best felt via the launch of numerous social electronic networks such as facebook, skype, yahoo, gmail, whatsapp and many more applications which serve as social networks. They have both positive and negative impacts on communication.
Among the positive effects of social networks to communication is the increased element of creativity in communication. This is intensely felt in situations where learners like children take part in social networking. People are able to communicate “sense” effectively by the use of social networks. One only needs an internet connection to enjoy the services of communicating through the social networks.
More reliable information can now be conveyed to the target audience via the social networks. For example in the trade industry, advertisements are made in the social networks and the potential customers can view the goods they want to buy and decide with certainty. There has also been an increased effectiveness and efficiency of the communication due to the presence of social networks. Communication has also become enjoyable due to the presence of multiple applications such as games on Facebook. There is an increased element of confidence in communication due to the use of social networks.
Despite the positive impacts of social networks, they have also been a source of trouble to the process of communication. It possesses some negative effects which adversely affect communication. The use of deceptive information by fraudulent bloggers and social networkers on such networks has really served to the disadvantage of any unsuspecting people who eventually lose to the fraudsters. The use of social networks also instills a false sense of confidence to any person who engages in such communication. The use of social networks has resulted in the conveyance of immoral and unnecessary information to the society. For instance, pornography and violence have been fostered among the youth via such networks. That results to “bad communication” and if left unchecked will result in moral and social decays.
. Many people today dread communication due to such experiences. It has also led to the transmission of unintended messages since one cannot undo what they have already sent. These negative effects operate around the abuse of communication due to the use of social networks in communication.
Conclusion.
Even though it has been observed that the emergence of affordable as well as convenient communication platforms have improved the art of communication, this has to be enjoyed with lots of sobriety and constraints to stick by the societal ethics.
