While this course posed a lot of challenges, I found that there are a lot of things that I do not know both about sociology and about myself. I found that the information I learned from this class not only taught me about the world around my, but it taught me many things about who I am and how I have been impacted by my family’s cultural backgrounds.
I would say that the most challenging part of this course had to examine myself and my own past. No one likes to have to examine themselves that closely. People do not always want to review their won life and past experiences. I, myself, could not believe how much I learned about myself and my family, through this course.
I would split the information in this class and make it a two part course. While there is a lot of good information that is learned, I found some of the things I learned to be a little hard to comprehend, and others things I found that I wanted to know more about them than time allots for this one course.
It would allow the students more time to focus on the many different parts of this course. We would be able to learn a lot more from the information that is offered in this class, because we would have more time to learn the information. I believe that there is a lot more information that would have been able to be focused on, simply if we had more time to be able to focus on the information.
The one thing that I found to be the most meaningful part of this experience was the idea of journal entries. I found that I learned a lot from the journal entries that I had done throughout this course. I found that I learned a lot both about the topic and about myself from most of the journal entries that I had done. While it was scary at times to learn, as much as I did, about myself, it was also valuable information that I will be able to use for the rest of my life.
I see myself being able to use this information in my everyday life, because it gives me a perspective of what I have already been through in my life and where myself and my family have come from for me to get here. I will be able to use this information that I learned to be able to better self-examine my past. I will then be able to use that information to give me an idea of what characteristics I would like to change and why I would like to change them. It will also give me a better idea of how to handle people of various cultures or background.
Another thing that I learned was that I not only have to work with building both myself and my society that I live in (Daniel, 2004). I also learned that even though no one likes to be labeled, the idea of labels is a necessary evil in society .
During this course, I learned a lot of important information. I will definitely use this information throughout the rest of my life and career pursuit. Learning as much as I did about myself was able to show me who I am and knowing myself will help me to be successful in anything that I choose to do.
