THEORIES
The industrial and postindustrial periods are two periods of society that re very important in the development of modern society both financially and socially. These two periods are closely related with one period being the predecessor of the other. Despite these facts there are a number of aspects of both periods that clearly distinguish each period and enable it to stand out on its own. This essay discusses the transition from the industrial period to the postindustrial period.
The most profound transition from the industrial period to the postindustrial period was in terms of the economy. This is because the economy is the pivotal point of both the industrial period and the postindustrial period. Both these periods relied on their impact on the economy for their significance and eventual place in history. During the transition from the industrial period to the postindustrial period the economy also underwent a transition. The economy changed from its initial inclination towards the production of goods to a new inclination aimed at the provision of goods. This is because during the industrial period the production of goods was the main driving force of the economy and of socirty.it was very important that as much goods as possible be produced during this period. Things however changed as the postindustrial period dawned on the human race.in this period a lot of goods had been produced. People wanted to relax and be served after their hard work in the industrial period. This explains why the economy became more inclined towards service provision in the postindustrial period.
The postindustrial period was also revolutionary in terms of the global view of knowledge. In the industrial period knowledge was important but it was not considered as a form of capital. Things however changed with the inception of the postindustrial period. In this period people got to see knowledge for what it really was. They started valuing knowledge more and more as the most significant human service of all.as a result people with knowledge earned a lot of money and critical acclaim. Knowledge gained prominence and was considered very important.as a result people started viewing knowledge as an active form of capital that was very important for the growth of the economy and the development of society as a whole.
The nature of the work force also changed from the industrial period to the posit industrial period. This is because during the industrial period workers existed as random employees. They had no specialized form of organization within their own ranks. There were no groups to fight for and advocate for the rights of the workers. The postindustrial period welcomed radical changes in terms of the work force. Workers became more aware of their work place rights.as a result they started forming unions and organizations which advocated specifically for their rights and treatment at the work place.
The post industrialization period is basically a period of society in which the service sector is the source of more income than the manufacturing income.in this period people got illuminated as to the value of the service sector vis a vis the manufacturing sector. As a result the importance of the service sector manifested. The service industry therefore took prominence as the main driving force of the economy. Human service gained more significance and a lot of relevance in society.
