In this paper the author shall examine and comment on two PowerPoint presentation provided. The author shall outline what he/she has learned and then relate the comments from the two PowerPoint provided to his/her group assignment.
Comment on PowerPoint 5
This PowerPoint presentation examines the perception given to Muslims after the American bomb last in September eleven. From the information available in this PowerPoint, the author has learned some of the problems the American Muslims encountered following the blast. For instance, the author learned that post 9/11 brought harassment and discrimination to the Muslims
Americans based on their religion and race. This made it difficult for them to lay claim to rights and civil liberties as Americans and as immigrants who are racialized, alienated and oppressed simply because of their religious identification. The author has learnt some of the ways used by Muslims to redefine themselves in America following 9/11 blast that made them to be discriminated and harassed.
For instance, promoting moderate political views among others. This presentation is almost similar to group 4 presentation because both examine sociological aspects of the society. Both in both presentations, the principle of generalization have been applied. For instance, in PowerPoint 5, only few Muslims carried out the attack. However, that has been generalized to imply that all the Muslims are terrorists. On PowerPoint 4, the Mexicans ladies have generalized their men to be bad and therefore, they are searching for U.S men to marry them.
