Space research is one of the main issues of modern science. However, many people argue that the United States government spends too much money on it. My research proposal is aimed on analyzing the issue whether the United States government should reduce the amount of money spent for the space program. There are several reasons for choosing this topic. First, I want to prove skeptics that space programs are still significant for modern development of the country. Second, I believe that space programs is something that can help the humankind survive. The point is that the Earth is being polluted daily and, in my opinion, people have to look for shelter on other planets. In my research paper, I will claim that space programs are underestimated and they are significant for our country. I realize that there will not be immediate results. All the space programs are long lasting and every person should realize that. My research will be aimed mainly on people who are connected with space: space scientists, space enthusiasts and space policy makers. These are the people, who know much about space programs. They are the ones who should realize the importance of space programs. However, I should mention that I would like to invite skeptics to my presentation. Skeptics are the ones, who used groundlessly to criticize space programs. Hence, I would like to convince them in the opposite.
When making my research I would pay attention to such points: the development of space programs in the United States of America; current state of space programs; benefits of space programs. In my opinion, these very questions are the most significant in my research. The point is that one should know the history of development of space programs and their current state. Besides, I would like to outline advantages and disadvantages of space programs. However, the main idea of my research is to prove that the government should not reduce the amount of money spent for space programs. Hence, I will provide the audience with facts and statistical data on space programs, as well as with the information on future projects of NASA.
When researching the issue, it is necessary to make up a plan. According to my plan, I will, firstly, make a literature review. I will try to find as many sources, concerning space programs as possible. It is significant, because that is how I will be into the topic and be able to think objectively. Secondly, I will conduct theoretical research on history of space programs development. In my opinion, internet should not be the only source of the research. Hence, I will use library resources to have better view on the situation. The next step is to conduct data collection. While researching the issue theoretically, I will come up with some statistical data and interesting facts. However, I should remind that tax payers are the ones who pay for space programs. Hence, in my opinion, it is necessary to know their mind on the issue. That is why, interview will be one of the research methods that I will use. I will ask respondents only one question, whether they agree that space programs are necessary or not. This will help to understand the opinion of the majority of citizens.
