Compare and contrast AAU and NFHS
Difference
The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) was founded majorly to promote sports activities in the United States. Thousands of volunteers joined the association where they participated in different sports activities majorly for their own benefits. The AAU mission says “Sports for all, Sports Forever.” This mission statement gives a great difference with that of National Federation of State High School Association which was founded majorly to formulate rules used in High School sports. Therefore, as AAU aims at making sports an activity affordable to everyone irrespective of their religion, age, gender, and color, NFHS is mainly aimed at promoting sports among the high school students where through ads, they can be able to make an income.
Similarity
Both AAU and NFHS aim at making sports an activity that can change lives of an individual. Through sports, AAU educates the athletes how to tackle some life challenges such as drug abuse. NFHS, on the other hand, has come with different measures and policies that ensure that those who practice in different sports in high school level do not indulge in any drug abuse (NFHS.org, 2014). The other similarity is that both the associations do not pay the participants. Participants in AAU competitions are volunteers and NFHS, on the other hand, does not pay high school participants. The main reason that these organizations don’t pay their participants is because of the fear that sports can be turned into an activity to earn money rather than to entertain. However, the missions of both the AAU and NFHS are similar since they all aim at promoting sports activities though at different levels.
