I am writing in regards to my application for the PhD Chemistry program at McGill University. Having a major interest in Organic Chemistry I hereby wish to pursue my further studies at McGill University due to its global recognition as one of the TOP-ranked universities with a solid laboratory setting and extensive opportunities for the development of my research skills.
I believe that my previous achievements in the stated field of study can stoutly buttress my willingness to enroll in the program. Gaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry at King Faisal University gave me a thorough basic knowledge and understanding of my future goals for the post-graduate research. Being a graduate of the Bachelor program with a 94.59% GPA, I have been honored to receive a Scholarship by the Ministry of Higher Education to take my studies to the upper level and start the Master of Science program in Chemistry and Biochemistry at Laurentian University, Greater Sudbury, Canada. This period of studies mostly determined my interest in the synthetic, organic and medical chemistry. I have been a participant of numerous practical laboratory observations, thus gained a firm experience in microwave chemistry, heterocyclic chemistry and multi-step synthesis analysis. With this expertise provided, I am currently in the process of compiling my research project with a pivotal focus on the development of chemical method for the synthesis of macrocyclic molecules related to telomestatin, using microwave technology. In order to add credence to my profile, I have to mention that I have been invited to participate in the 16th Annual Chemistry and Biochemistry Graduate Research Conference at Concord University in Athens, US. The aforementioned examples of my insistent work towards collecting qualitatively new knowledge identified my willingness to continue research within my field of expertise.
As I am moving towards successful completion of the Master’s Program at Laurentian University, my future intensions include possessing a rich foundation of self-conducted research in organic chemistry and chemical synthesis methods. Another point I am fundamentally in accord with regarding the opportunity to study on a PhD program, is that I will have a vast academic atmosphere to conduct a research in, and the most proficient faculty professors to draw motivation for reaching my goals. With the PhD degree obtained I will be free to deliberately investigate the matters of organic synthesis. I am also eager to experiment on the point of innovative chemistry and abilities of applying organic analogues synthesis in natural products.
Specifically, I wish to manifest my deep interest in working with such enlisted Professors of the Chemistry Department as Dr. James Gleason and Dr. Jean-Philip Lumb. Their extensive experience and conducted research strongly inspires me due to the fact that the nucleus of their experience is placed directly in the fields I am interested in. I am assured that under their precise conduct I will be able to examine new synthetic methods modeling. I will get a chance to plunge into the organic, materials and medical chemistry and reveal my true potential in the field.
