The movie Straight Outta Compton was released in 2015. The movie is based on the life and struggles of hip-hop and rap music in the town of Compton. The movies portrayed how the music industry changed because of the rappers who made the music a sensation. The stories the rappers such as Dr. Dre and Eazy-E had created were lyrics of truth. The controversies that were brought forth regarding the lyrics that were being recorded caused an outrage in society. The trials and tribulations that had to be overcome for these rising stars to beat all odds and finish what they wanted to do. The words they rapped about were the life of the town they grew up in. There is no sugar coating the lyrics and they are as raw as they can get. This is what caused such an issue was because of the words used and the stories that were portrayed.
The movie viewed the truth and battle that occurred in that era of Compton. Drugs was a huge part of life on the streets and the music was also related to drugs, sex, and crime. “The N.W.A. was born and was a huge part of the music industry in the late 1980’s to early 1990’s” . This time-frame had changed how people viewed the lives in Compton and other people related to the music they had rapped about that was personal and real. The movie was an interesting view of what had actions had to happen and what incidents took place in a time when rap music was rising in the industry. The movie touches base to the time in life when crime and drugs were an eager part of the streets, and real life meant trying to stay alive. This was a great movie and it reflected a great idea of how life was in that era of life. It shows the great strength that after being exploited to that lifestyle, there was still an accomplishing goal that had occurred in the music world.
