Infrastructure and Leadership
Important Qualities to drive a company
Businesses anchor their success on different aspects. Good leadership is the primary aspect that any business must ensure so as to realize its goals and visions. There are many other qualities that can drive a company, but the following three are some of the most important according to Fraser (2016).
Creating a strategy is a leadership quality that can never be ignored in any business setup. Every company has a vision and mission in which it works to achieve. For an organization to grow, a well formulated strategy is important. The strategy will act as the spotlight directing the company on what should be achieved when and under what cost. Every decision made within the company will be based on achieving what is stipulated within the strategy and hence an important quality to drive the company forward.
Good relationship with the customers
Customers form an important part of an organization. Without the customers, a company will not exist. An organization which understands its customers best and deliver as per the demands of the clients will grow. It is the role of a company’s leadership to ensure that customers are treated well and that in case there is any misunderstanding, it is resolved without hurting either party. Some of the ways a company’s leadership can ensure that they have a good relationship with the customers is through providing a platform for the customers to contact the company and provide a timely feedback. An organization with such leadership qualities will not only win many customers but also retain them as well.
Ethics, Integrity and character
A company will only grow when it is able to differentiate right from the wrongs. As much as a company might have a bigger financial capability and customer base, it cannot grow when ethics and integrity are not held to the highest standards within and outside the company. A good leader is that who understands what is wrong and tries to work under the code of conducts. Therefore, a company with ethical leadership qualities will be better placed to win not only employees but also customers who will feel that they are highly cared for. Leaders in a company need to promote ethics first by defining the code and conducts that must be followed during service delivery. A company also stands a better chance to avoid lawsuits that may arise due unethical conducts in case all the stakeholders in the company understand the code and conducts to be followed.
Key attributes needed for successful managing
Managers in any organization need to have particular attributes that differentiate them from non-managers and above all, to make them successful. There are varied aspects that build a manager but the following attributes are widely accepted that any leader needs to portray so as to be successful;
Good time management
A manager can only be successful if they manage their time well. Time is the only factor that all companies have equally. For a manager to be successful in an organization, he or she must be able to use the little available time wisely for the benefit of the organization.
Good communication skills
Managing involves the communication of policies and instructions to other staff members. A successful managing is anchored on the manner policies and instructions are communicated. According to Huemer (2014), a manger that has good communication skills ensures that instructions are communicated timely and in a manner that is easily understood by everyone it is intended to reach. With proper communication skills, a manager will ensure that a few or no conflicts arise when the recipients who may include the customers and the staff get the right information at the right time and in the best format.
Conflict resolution
Conflict can never be ignored in an organization. Every organization must experience conflict in one way or the other, either from within or external forces. The conflict resolution tactics applied by a manager defines whether they will be successful or not. Managers who duck conflicts in an organization never succeed. A successful manager should be able to face a conflict and provide a solution. Therefore, the success or failure of a manager will depend on the manner they handle conflicts in an organization.
Relationship with other stakeholders in an organization
A manager cannot achieve all the goals of an organization alone, there must be other stakeholders involved. Customers, staff members and the authority are some of the most important stakeholders that make up an organization. The success or failure of a manager will depend heavily on how they relate with these people. For a manager to be successful, first they must appreciate other people who are also involved in the success of the organization. Managers who respect the authority and follow rules of the land position themselves in the success track. Also, for managers to be successful they must have a good understanding of the customers whom they serve.
