Oral presentations is the use of speech to present an idea. Oral presentations express ideas and thus should be delivered in a manner that promote the passing of the intended information. It is the ethical duty of a speaker making an oral presentation to research about the topic he is presenting and organize the speech in an organized way. A speaker should also pass the right information while making an oral presentation
Secondly, the manner in which an oral presentation is introduced matters a lot. An oral presentation should be introduced in an interesting way so as to make it easy to acquire the attention of the listeners. Some of the acts include staring outside the presenting hall, reading short hand notes for too long as well as concentrating on one audience via his eye contact. The performance of the fore mentioned acts damages the character of the speaker and the listeners may not concentrate on the oral presentation he is delivering.
Moreover, during an oral presentation a speaker should use signals properly. For instance, hands should be coordinated to the verses during the presentation. A speaker should therefore not engage in acts that suggest boredom. Such acts include chewing gum, hair brushing, playing with ornaments and laughing tensely.
Any speaker delivering an oral presentation should keep a straight standing pose and his face should look and focus on the people. Maintaining a good pose is a sign of courage. During oral presentations a speaker should avoid crooked postures, rocking legs and pocketing hands.
Besides, voice difference is very essential during oral presentations. A speaker should know when to lower or raise his voice to stress a vital idea. The voice should also be easy to hear to the audience. A speaker should not be too noisy and not too soft.
Proper layout-an oral presentation ``power point” should present the main ideas for the presentation in an understandable manner. Additionally, the slides information should be important ideas and the wording should be visible to the ``audience” and well formatted. Decorative fonts and inclusion of irrelevant information should not be adopted in the slides.
Further, a fine ``oral presentation” power point should adopt the use of sounds and colors to put across main thoughts .However, many colors should not be used because they will amuse the listeners and lead to lack of concentration. Colors can be applied in diagrams that explain on the presentations. Researchers have noted that people tend to concentrate more if diagrams are applied in presentations due to their simple nature compared to writings.
