Stress is a natural and essential part in any profession or workplace nowadays. And the reasons that cause stress are very much diverse; ranging from personal to contextually professional or even cultural. Stress is the one thing that needs to be controlled and managed in such a way that it fails to hamper official performance. In fact, at present, ability to manage workplace stress is being tested, and those with such ability are considered more eligible. So, the very first value of managing stress in a workplace is being able to achieve the recognition of a competent professional. Second is the satisfaction and intrinsic self- rewarding enhancement of performance quality that is bound to lead to higher positions in the status quo. Third value is, being able to have more organized and productive personal professional life where an individual can maintain most commitments.
One of the methods that I have learnt implemented successfully and recommended is applying time management strategies. Time management allows an individual to prioritize and order a daily plan of action. The tasks of the day are categorized in terms of type of work, rate of urgency, requirement of the client and the function it is supposed to serve on the long run. With a fresh mind, this recommends one to start those types of work in the morning which will require cold headed and effective attention and analytic focus. By afternoon as the energy level starts to decrease. It recommends one to start work which have a relaxed deadline and will allow time to compensate for any other factor as fatigue or loss of energy. After lunch, it stresses on the importance on a stroll around the office premises so that physical idleness is removed and psyche feels fresh yet again. As per time management strategies, evening or the final hours in an office should be spent again for tasks like revision or updating information which require analytic focus. During my stressful time, I have applied all the above and have been successful. Among many other methods of fighting stress, I choose time management strategies because it applies ways of better and effective organization and prioritizing of work in a very effective manner.
