The following article will present a discussion on Richard Branson as a significant leader who attracts the admiration with regards to his leadership experience. He is a Britain’s billionaire and the proprietor of the Virgin group that has more than four hundred companies.
1. Describe the leader's personality.
Richard Branson has three important personality traits that have enabled him to prosper in his business ventures. The first trait is listening. This is a Virgin trait, and he affirms that it enables them to learn from one another, the market place and also from their mistakes. The second personality trait is learned. Branson mentions that he has received a lot of credit for the success that Virgin group of companies have achieved, however, the successes stem from learning, as well as, working with the world's best. The last trait of Branson is laughter. His primary rule in both life and business is to enjoy fully whatever one is doing. Running any venture needs long hours and dedication, and if one thus lacks the passion, then the business would most likely crumble.
2. What leadership traits, if any, does the leader possess?
Passionate- Branson is passionate about what he does. This can be seen in the strategic decisions he makes, motivation he offers to his employees and the team building he encourages.
Ability to delegate- he has mastered the art delegating duties to his numerous employees. Through this, he reduces his personal workload while giving opportunities for growth to the ambitious workers.
Holds a decisive mind- he is collaborative and is thus able to get most out of his employees. He also knows when and how to make a firm and a final decision. (Half)

Because of his desirable personal traits, Branson massively impacts on the activities of the people around him primarily his employees. As a result, they regularly accomplish the available tasks in the required manner because of the good leadership advanced to them by their CEO. His style of leadership is that which upholds each individual’s personal skills and as such, his employees are constantly motivated to perform their tasks well.
4. Based upon the book, The Leadership Challenge, what are the leader’s strengths and weaknesses?
Some of the weaknesses of Richard Branson encompass the following: Shyness- he is shy particularly when approaching a stage or entering a room that is filled with individuals looking at him.
Easily becomes bored- whenever he opens up a new business venture, he speedily gets bored and thus delegates its management before getting bored with it.
His strengths include:
Big dreamer- he dreams big and sets for himself some seemingly impossible targets. He then catches up with them by all means.
Self-motivated- he comprehends his primary motivation and thus focuses his efforts on accomplishing those goals.
5. Would you want to work for them? Why or why not.
On a personal basis, working for Richard Branson would be a good opportunity to gain sufficient knowledge and experience on the best ways to run successful businesses. As a result, taking the opportunity is a notable chance to learn more about the Virgin group of companies and all that its proprietor, Branson, underwent before the establishment of the empire that it is currently. Also, an acquisition of the desirable traits he holds can be done consequently increasing the prospects associated with any venture that would be undertaken.
