Stone Age Columbus
The greatest voyage in human history was the one travelled by men, women and children in search of a better future for them and their ascendants. They were not famous polar explorers who had perfect equipment for such weather conditions. They travelled across the Atlantic from Europe to America and they reached the new continent a long time before Columbus. This journey is one of the most significant and important for American history.
The very idea that people could make this way 17,000 years before Columbus found America is unbelievable. Now the mystery of the first people who populated America is revealed. Now it requires the entire history to be rewritten, as archeologists have real artifacts that belong to early settlers. Before the Clovis Point was the most remarkable find. There are lots of huge clues of the earliest era located there. Skeletons and early weapons to kill animals are the main artifacts found there. After a very short time the Clovis Point has become the symbols of the first people on the continent. Stone Age beasts who hosted in America were wiped out after the last Ice Age. It became possible for people to inhabit the wide territories covered with ice. The first people in America were people from Asia who lived an isolated life before Columbus reached its coasts.
However, Jim Adovasio decided to devote his life to a deeper dug into early American history. He discovered layers that were below the Clovis layer and he found a new history. There were artifacts that belonged to a period of more than 16, 000 before the arrival of Columbus. It proves that someone lived in America before the Clovis people. This fact is probably the greatest discovery of the 21st century. Many specialists were doubtful regarding the origins of these findings, but new artifacts serve as irrefutable proof of Adovasio’s point. Modern technologies provide an opportunity to study genetic variation and DNA codes of the early Native Americans.
The lower layer of the Clovis Point keeps the record of the great saga about the first migration of people in the history. According to the latest estimations, it happened 20,000-30,000 years ago. Such great findings post a very important question about the identity of Native Americans. They were believed to be Asian ascendants, but new studies may reveal new mysteries. It is possible that the Solutreans who inhabited territories of France reached America’s coast 17,000 ago, but this link still needs to be proved. The close similarity is not enough for science. Therefore, this discovery places a lot more new questions about the early inhabitants of America (“Stone Age Columbus – transcript”).
Many fields of science, including archaeology, biology, history, anthropology among others, will be influenced by the new discovery. It is believed that similar researches will be conducted in many places of the world to find out whether there is a chance that lower layers of ground keep the history of the earliest people. New technologies will work for the benefit of determining the real age of the artifacts. Biology and genetics will say more about the way of evolution that humankind went through. It is possible that similarities between early European settlers and early Americans will become more obvious for scientists that will transform the current understanding about Native Americans’ identity.
