Introduction
The introduction of Information Technologies into the market was accompanied by many changes which also influenced the manner in which people live, their behavior and the values that they hold. Currently, there exist many technological devices that have improved life than in the past. This essay will be concerned with the development and growth of Information Technologies on human beings and especially in relationship to formation of groups, cultural disparities and the individuals’ sense of place. Information technology can be defined as the technology that is used to create or distribute, manipulate and store information or data. The type of data or information to this definition is not important and technology is any kind of mechanism that is capable of processing the data. The introduction of Information Technology in the market has resulted to changes that have influenced the way in which people live, the values that they hold and their behaviors.
Developments which include the satellite television and the internet have introduced new audience and medium to which and through which the organizations can use to distribute their information. These developments have made it possible for media and news organizations to access many people and as a result they have a wide audience. The audience in return has wide choice of the information they want to get as it access due to the cheapness of publishing information and hence many organization have come up and hence most people are acquainted with enough information.
The social structure
A group can be defined as a collection of people or individuals that have a frequent interaction and regular contact, common feelings, mutual influence and also work together in order to attain common set of objectives. There exists a reciprocal relation between the society and an individual. Individuals influence the society through their actions and as a result create organizations, networks, groups and institutions. In reciprocal, the society does influence individuals through meanings and its language that make it possible for an individual to engage in a social interaction, take role of others and also reflection on an individual as an object.
Individual’s actions or behavior exists within a framework of the set of patterns of interaction among all individuals that make up the society structure. Social structures come from the actions of individuals as the actions have a pattern in individuals over a time, but the actions of individuals also arise in the framework of social structure in which those individuals exist. A social structure is not a thing that is experienced directly as people are not tuned directly to the patterns that occur across individuals over a time.
Grouping is the processes of making other people understand how to live according to the expectations of a group and also making them to become adapted to that group. It is a process that enables a particular person to familiarize with a particular group. The main reasons as to why people form groups is because they need to produce goods and is made easy when people are in a group as they are able to come up with ideas while other people implement them. Grouping helps in producing of goods as there exist many talents which if well utilized can be an advantage to the group. Another reason for grouping is to enable domain and also control over others. When there are many people who want to raise an issue, they are first attended to before other individuals are. In other words, groups have a lot of power compared to individuals and they can easily dominate a territory that is owned by individuals. When individuals are absorbed by groups, they are taught the values, norms, roles, skills in the group through a process of socialization. This understanding of the culture and the groups helps in development of personality. Culture is transferred from one generation of groups to another by means of socialization.
Formal organizations are formed when two or more people who have common goals and objectives and are in agreement to work together in order to attain the same goals come together. Formal organizations have their own regulations and rules which have to be observed by members who include the managers and the employees. These organizations have systems of authority and co-ordination. Formal organizations have a well defined superior to subordinate relationship and also clear and specific objectives. All members of formal organizations have specific responsibilities and duties.
Informal organizations have their existence within formal organization. They are networks of social and personal relationship that work in formal organization who interact and meet regularly. The people in the informal organizations eat, work and travel together and for that reason they become good companions and friends. Informal organizations do not have systems of authority and co-ordination and as such they do not have regulations and rules and communication takes place through grapevine.
Communication and human beings
Communication plays a decisive role in improving the development of human in today’s climate of a changing society. As the world is moving towards a greater decentralization, market economy and democracy, conditions have been made more conducive for people to navigate their own route of change though it is important to stimulate their participation, capabilities and awareness and communication skills have a central task. Some policies are required in order to encourage implementation and effective planning of communication programs. Communication as debate and dialogue occurs suddenly in any particular time of a social change. The improved freedom of expression recently has been simultaneous with the changes that have taken place in the structure of global politics. Communication is an intervention that affects the economic and social changes that hold interesting possibilities.
A growth strategy that utilizes communication approaches is able to reveal the underlying traditional wisdom and attitudes and also helps the people to become accustomed to their views and get new skills and knowledge and as a result, they are able to spread the social messages to bigger audiences. The planned utilization of communication skills, media and activities provide the people with powerful means both to have an experience of the change and to essentially guide it. As a result of enhanced exchange of thoughts in all the sections of society leads to a better involvement of the people with similar causes. This is a crucial requirement for a sustainable and appropriate development. With the rapid advancements of information and knowledge, the era of telecommunication of rural improvement may now be upon us. Currently, telecommunication electronic learning centers have been established in the developing worlds equipped with user friendly terminals of computers that are able to download interactive management and learning information programs. The strategy that is behind community mobilization and participation is the release of energy with the people by boosting their confidence in in carrying out and making decisions in a reliable way and to ensure that they are benefitting from the efforts. Communication activities assist people to exchange ideas and share information in a productive and positive manner. The communities dialogues is enriched through familiarizing in how the issues of development affect them and should also discover what the people in other communities think and also what they have achieved.
Information Technology
The rate of change that has been brought by the information technology has had a major effect on the manner in which they live, play and work. The emerging and new technologies have challenged the traditional methods of teaching and the management of education. Information technology has had a significant effect on all the areas of curriculum. With the developing and the existing innovations and technologies that emerge every day, information technology is a field that continues to be interesting not only for developers, but for every type of non-technical normal people also.
The needs of making every day life become easier, the advancements of technology has made most activities to shift to online. With that in mind, the web has proven to be an intimidating and still yet a very useful equipment as well. Computer based information and technology systems are quite vast and widely spread in their utilization. When a person makes use of the web to send and receive e-mails, social networking for example on facebook, sharing of multimedia files, all data passes through complicated soft wares and networks.
Information technology makes our lives convenient and easy. Banking has been made easy in nowadays computers are used to store all the details of a customer and they are able access their balances by logging in to the website of the banks and also people can borrow money using computers. With introduction of computers, students who are disabled or suffering from illness are able to enroll in schools by home schooling and they continue to take the exams through the use computers. It is the computer technology that has assisted businesses to serve the community in a better way. Most communities that are not familiar with the computer technology and the internet find it difficult to provide a means that can be used to communicate with the rest of the world. The internet plays a major role in giving knowledge and is also and important place for current news, information and trends.
The internet’s influence of the society
There is no hesitation that the Internet is an incredible creation, as even the whole world is suddenly finding itself obsessed to it. In every direction that one looks at, there is bound to have something that is Internet-related. When televisions came into scene about 60 years ago, it gave much similar things that the Internet provides to people currently: information and entertainment. Nevertheless, Internet has advantages over the television more significant is that it is providing an immediate access to information and it is also interactive as opposed to the television.
The benefits of social networks such as the facebook, twitter, skype and e-mail are very real even though parents view them as another way that their children are using to waste their time. Social networks have opened new ways of communication so that children are able to learn skills which could be useful to them in the future. Social networks create a good means for one to keep in touch with other people who have moved to other places. Social networks helps in asking questions and the answers are given quickly. One is able to get exposed to many points of view and is also a tool for learning about diversity. Social networking has proved to be a good means in which students are able to interact with other students that are in different or the same school and especially when they want to consider a new school or a college.
The most common disadvantages of the internet include the use of sexually oriented materials and security threats. A description of other disadvantages is given as follows; the internet does so many things such that it has encouraged laziness and a non-social behavior. The laws regarding the use of internet are very confusing and are also hard to enforce and this not only facilitates illegal activities on the internet but acts as a channel for ignorant thoughts. The internet seems to give more freedom to people than even the real life does and as a result people say what they like without facing the consequences and without minding who the audience of that content is. The excess freedom on the internet also encourages racists and sexists to carry on with their work without fear. Internet has resulted to people to forgetting that the living human beings are very different from the screens of computers and the more they depend on internet the more they isolate themselves from the human contact but because the dependence on the internet has proven permanent, it is upon every individual to decide on what is good for them.
Conclusion
An information technology has certainly changed the life of people personally, culturally and also in the thing that people do in their everyday activities. In the current era, most activities are carried out in the Internet rather than in the past where most things were done manually. In conclusion, the development of Information Technologies has resulted to positive and negative effects to humans. Most people in the beginning did not accept it but they did so after finding it very useful when they got to understand how important it was to have embraced technologies as part and way of their living. Information technology is being applied in almost every aspect of today’s life. Finally, Information Technology helps people to increase their efficiency in communicating with others.
