Intended Method for Gathering Data for Sub-Questions
Children with abnormal activity levels including those with attention problems often affect classroom participation and behavior. In order to address behavior related problems among students, intervention modalities such as weighted vests are necessary to minimize the effect of sensory modulation dysfunction and use the approach as a school-based therapy. Determining the effectiveness of the approach requires gathering data that supports the sub-question pertaining to the selected intervention model.
Providing the context on the purpose, effectiveness, and general information about weighted vest as a mode of intervention requires data gathered using the literature analysis method where results from relevant previous studies will be examined for quantitative and qualitative data that showing the effectiveness of weighted vests.
Collins, Rosalind, and Dworkin (2011) are an example of a study testing effectiveness of weighted vests.
Sub-question 2. Who can benefit?
Lee, Chang, and Hong (2014) in the randomized Conner’s Continuous Performance test provides a result supporting the effectiveness of weighted vest on improving attention to tasks of student with behavioral problems such ADHD. The findings in this study are an example of the data gathered from reviewing relevant literatures within the same subject of study. The same results were gathered from the study conducted by Buckle, Franzsen, and Bester (2011).
Sub-question 2. Can the intervention approach apply on other behavioral conditions?
