Substance abuse has become a very big problem in the United States leading to the emergence of many different substance abuse treatment programs. It has caused significant health problems affecting families and the whole community at large (Aday, 2003). Where I live in Arkansas, there is the Arkansas Rift Valley Area Council which helps people with substance abuse problems with the services they are in need of. Moreover, there is also the BCD Hoover Treatment Centre which is a community based substance abuse treatment program facility. These two facilities provide substance abuse treatment and halfway housing for monitoring people with heavy drug substance abuse problems.
The type of care and services provided by the Arkansas Rift Valley Area Council and BCD Hoover Treatment Centre are: outpatient, residential long-term treatment, day treatment/ partial hospitalization and continuing care. The only difference between the two is that, BCD Hoover Treatment Centre additionally provides residential short-term treatment services. Their main goal is to provide accessible comprehensive substance abuse treatment and prevention services to drug abuse victims in the Arkansas state. They help substance addicts seek the help they need in order to become good people and quit substance abuse. These facilities have been effective in the Arkansas state as they have offered special programs for both adults and youth who indulge in substance abuse. They have residential care for all kinds of people including those with concurring mental substance abuse disorders and residential beds for both adults and children.
The Arkansas Rift Valley Area Council and BCD Hoover Treatment Centre are very effective as they provide substance abuse treatment services to the Arkansas state and they have helped manage and reform drug addicts in the community. They have worked together in assisting vulnerable populations get help in the community thus making the community a good place to live in with no fear. Empirical evidence has shown that the cost effective method of addressing the substance abuse issue is through drug abuse treatment programs and this is all the Arkansas Rift Valley Area Council and BCD Hoover Treatment Centre are offering (Morral, McCaffrey and Ridgeway, 2004).
