Dear Program Director:
I am writing in support of the candidacy of [INSERT NAME HERE] to your BSHS in Medical Laboratory Scienceprogram.
I had the pleasure of crossing paths with Sgt. [INSERT NAME HERE] during our deployment in Afghanistan in support of ISAF operations. As an Officer and Registered Nurse I am responsible for management of all the operations that the clinic in the Forward Operating Base undertakes, both combat and non-combat related. [INSERT NAME HERE] serves as the Troop Medical Clinic Laboratory’s Non-Commissioned Officer in charge of laboarory work in support of medical personnel. [INSERT NAME HERE] consistintely performs splendily under difficult circumstances, and he has proven himself to be inquistive, driven, and hard working. He is an excellent complement to the team, and through his strong work ethic has shown that he is independent and able to think outside the box.
Priot to my present role in Afghanistan, I worked as a Registered Nurse in Intensive Care Units. The reliance on laboratory supplied information for my line of work is difficult to overexpress. Good laboratory work dictates treatment plans and the support a good laboratory provides is essential to treating every type of patient.
The Forward Operating Base in which we are currently stationed in Afghanistan houses ten thousand troops. He is the sole individual working at the base’s laboratory, and despite the heavy workload, consistently delivers exemplary service. The laboratory and medical clinic is further responsible for multiple sorrounding operating bases. [INSERT NAME HERE] personally handles approximately three hundred samples a week. He also works in conjunction with the Special Forces Group and works alongside Military Veterinary Services to provide care to service animals tha thte Military employs in support of our operations. Despite the heavy workload that he completes in the laboratory, [INSERT NAME HERE] also undertakes responsibilities for teaching and training medics in laboratory functions. His teaching duties are critical to success of our mission because it expands the scope and ultimately speeds the process of health care delivery in an environment where every second counts.
[INSERT NAME HERE]’s dedication to his work was made clear very early on. Within a short time he was able distinguish himself as a leader and dedicated health care practitioner. He is not only good at executing projects, but also was involved in generating ideas. [INSERT NAME HERE] single handedly created the microbiology section of the laboratory, providing fast turn-around times for important diagnostic information. His improvisation skills are excellent, and applies theory meticulously to practice in order to supply vital data to the rest of the medical practitioners deployed with us. He is able to collaborate well with individuals in a wide range of disciplines and seeing a neccessity was able to create the emergency blood bank system that we use. He is resolute yet maintains the compassionate nature necessary to perform healthcare functions and has performed life-saving transfusions on animals.
In conclusion, I have found [INSERT NAME HERE] to be independent, hard-working and passionate. He has brought to every project that he has worked on a drive to complete the task at hand. He is willing to spend endless amounts of time with a problem until he finds a practicable solution and is constantly driven to explore new areas and to expand his intellectual horizons. [INSERT NAME HERE]is a very talented individual and will be an excellent addition to your program. I am certain that both he, and the university, will be enriched by his presence.
Thank you,
