In supply chain management, the role of manager plays an important role in the success of the business. The job vacancy of ‘supply chain manager’ is a very demanding and dedicated job, which covers almost every important aspect of the supply chain management. The main requirement for the job is to create and maintain a good supply chain process for the company’s new office. It includes the responsibilities regarding purchases, shipping, production planning, and relation with the suppliers and receiving of goods. The job for the manager post requires special skills to manage all different production departments in an effective way to maximize or maintain the required production level. Another important responsibility of the manager is to make sure that different production departments are working according to the plan and no labor is sitting idle. This means that supply from first department must reach the second department when it is required. Another important responsibility of the manager is to count and check the arrival of the inventory and the raw material. This process will help in reducing the losses of stolen inventory. Moreover, if the raw material received is of poor quality or wrong quantity, then it will be checked at the inventory department and poor raw material will be returned. Another important responsibility of the manger is to find the supplier who can deliver the raw material at cheaper prices and of better quality. The manger must force the creditors to pay as early as possible without damaging the business relations. The calculated discounts on early payments from creditors are the best option in these circumstances. Furthermore, searching for new clients is another main responsibility of the manger. The job of manager allows the manager to keep the control of every department. Moreover, the checking the purchase department and warehouse can assist is reducing the loss and auditing. When all departments are under one manager, then it is easy for the manager to re-order the exact quantity of raw material because the manager is aware of the needs and requirements of the customers. The job of inventory manager is another very important position in the supply chain management. The main role of the inventory manager is to keep the level of inventory to meet all the demands of the customers. In case of stock-out, the customers may consult other suppliers. Therefore, it is very important for the manager at the inventory department to maintain good communication with the production manager and the higher management. The counting of inventory for the manager is very important. This assists in reducing the stealing of the inventory. The inventory manager must restrict the access of staff and employees in the warehouse to minimize the chances of damages. The inventory manager must search for the good and cheaper carriage arrangements to reduce the delivery costs of the business. The skills required in the job for the inventory manager is to know the requirements of the customers. The manager must be fully aware of the inventory level, he must maintain to meet the requirements of the clients. The good communication skills to the production department, transporters and the clients are another important skill required for this job. The Production manager is another important job position in the supply chain management. The production manager is the one who keeps the production of the production in proper manners. If there is any flaw or error in the production, then the whole supply chain process can suffer problems. The main responsibility of the production manager is to maintain a good understanding between two different production departments. For example, if the second production department completes the product in one hour, then the first production department must supply the processed product within one hour. This proper understanding will reduce the chances of idle labor in the second department. Another main responsibility of the production manager is to minimize the loss of the raw material. Raw material wastages can be controlled by purchasing good quality raw material or hiring the expert labor. Another important job responsibility of the production manager is to keep the motivation level of labor higher. If the labor is motivated and satisfy, then the production level and quality will increase automatically. Therefore, it is very important for the production manager to assign proper and challenging targets to the labor at the production departments.
