The purpose of the survey is to ascertain whether counseling for patients effect on their medicine adherence. The population of my interest is patients who are on medication. For the purpose of my survey, the sample is sourced from patients who come to get their medicine supply from Right Aid Pharmacy in the Bronx on Eastchester Road . This makes my sample a non-randomized convenience sample. The choice of the population as those under medication is objective in my study. The rationale is that the population is diverse as it consists of both male and female and the ages are diverse and range from the young to the aged. These special characteristics make the population very appropriate for the study.
Moreover, the chemist is on a busy road. This offers an opportunity for any person in the chosen population to pop in and be fit to be a respondent in the survey. The choice of the sample can also be justified by the actuality that the chemist does not have any stipulated regular customers. By using this particular sample, objectivity is achieved as the customers will be from different livelihoods and walks of life.
The survey will be personal. Immediately after the purchase, a series of questions will be administered to the respondents to ascertain their views about advice before they are released to leave. The interview period will be limited and questions on how they feel about counseling will be direct and to the point. The age and gender factor will also be incorporated in the modes of choosing the respondents for the survey.
The actuality that only those patients under medication who visit the chemist will be used in the survey makes the sample a non-randomized sample. The sample is defined as convenient as it features only those patients who come to the chemist. The sample size will consist of only twenty patients who will come to get their medication in the pharmacy. The location of the survey will be in the chemist premises. The venue is convenient as it will allow for one-on-one conversations with the targeted population. The survey will be personal as the interviewer and interviewee will be on the same platform. Due to the sensitivity of the work place and working hours, the surveys will be conducted within the stipulated opening hours of the business. The survey will be done after purchase of the drugs by the patients.
