Sustainable Community Development
Sustainable development has been defined by several people and organizations by the most widely used definition has been the one given in the Bruntland Report that read “Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” (iisd.org, 2013) Two terms are key to this term, needs and limitations. The idea of sustainability is to be able to address the needs of the people while living within the limitations of the current technology, society and the environment we live in.
When talking about sustainability, humans as the prime movers of everything on earth are always present. So how can we attain a sustainable human systems in the community. The environmental and social environment where people live have been declining, paving way to make human systems deteriorate with these. More and more society have adapted democracy in their government, however, along the way standards of living of almost all inhabitants have also increased thus, creating congestions and affecting the economic, social and political standing of communities.
