Sustainable.
Working in a group setting can be quite complicated. Complications may arise from working hours such as overtime schedules, and everyone is responsible for adaptation to change. The whole phenomenon entails knowing how to foster harmony amongst people living or working together. According to Collins (2014) various factors can prove to be hindrances to sustainable peace.
I work as a tour guide with a travels agency known as Assis Adventures. At Assis, we are subdivided into visiting groups with a panel leader appointed for each group. The aim of the groups is to ensure coordination and management of workloads in instances of numerous clientele.
In a recent case, a conflict emerged between two group members during the preparation of a touring schedule. More specifically, the issue was related to personal differences. One of the warring factions was the group leader, thus, the working relationship amongst the group members was affected. The conflict led to the rescheduling of the meeting. Such was the severity of the dispute that the relationship between the two members and the conflict were the main focus of the meeting instead of group agendas.
According to Holman et.al ( 2007) this module would have been useful in establishing a proper relationship between the members. To help solve the dispute, I would educate the members on how status quo can be avoided when necessary while insisting on the maintenance of goals and minimizing blame on each other. More importantly having learnt the significance of communication and embracing diversity, advising the conflicting members on the best solutions to avoid conflicts and mitigate the element of partiality.
According to Winston Churchill, "We shape our buildings, and then our buildings shape us." The idea can be applied in maintaining sustainability which is apprehensible from this module.
