SWOT analysis
Analysis of Strength:
One of the key fortes of the organization is that the organization will have a compatible system that is fully interfaced and integrated with the hospital as mandated by most of the states. This reduces the number and instances of paperwork in that the system is compatible will all the other systems on the other organizations and the transfer of a patient from one emergency rooms and vehicles to the other can be easily done. Another strength that the employees may have in the organization is that the employee will have all their properties in a safe storage system in that the employees will have their belongings in the new automated locking system in their changing rooms (Voortman, 2004).
Analysis of Weakness
One of the main weaknesses that the organization may face is that in the core measures, the effort that the employees may exert in the collection of the patient data may be reduced. The lack of documentation from the clinicians guarantees that the studies and the conclusions that will be done on the data that is available will not be correct as expected. Additionally, the changes in the nurses writing the controlled substance script may not be well supported by all the nurses. This may in turn reduce the staff morale of the nurses and thereby reducing their outputs. Another weakness is that the introduction of the new codes- ICD-10-provides an additional cost to the organization in that the organization has to ensure that the nurses have to be well conversant with the new codes and thereby trains them. Furthermore, the Medicaid does not cover the patients who are above 21 years. This is particularly stressful as the main individuals who are intricate with the organization are above 21 years old.
Analysis of Opportunities
The opportunities that the nurses may face in the organization are the instance of having to be taught the new medical codes that are catered for by the organization. Additionally the organization will give the medical practitioners the opportunity to ensure that they get the correct experience while dealing with the patients as the facilities in the hospital are up to date. Another opportunity is that the recovery audit contractors can identify the recovery reimbursement for some particular employees and short stay patients. This ensures that there is increased revenue on the part of the organization (Dunn, 2010).
Analysis of Threats
The threats that the organization may face include the threat from the public hospitals. According to Deb (2006), the provision of the Medicaid for patients who are above the 21 years of age means that the potential patients of the organization will have to move to the public hospitals and disregard the private hospitals. Additionally, the staff members of the organization are not certified (Böhm, 2009). This means that it is up to the hospital officials to ensure that the staff members are certified and that the correct certification process is followed. An issue that may arise from using employees who are not properly certified even if they are trainees means that the organization can be sued in the event of any problem. Another threat is the change in the fire codes. All the employees have to be properly trained and informed of the procedures that have to be followed in the case of fire. The change in the fire codes means that the employees may be confused in case there is a fire.
In conclusion, SWOT analysis is one of the key reasons that must be considered with the new system in every organization. In this case, every employee must adhere to the new change in the health care facilities because patients’ information is highly secure because of the secured code. The new system and technology can only be fulfilled by training and educating healthcare givers at the hospital.
