The system would have an estimated cost of $995.99 [the price ranges from $799 to $1099]. The choice system is an HP Pavilion dv7. It is touted an entertainment PC because of the crystal clear display and vivid graphics display. It will be ideal for graphics design, with a 512 mb dedicated video memory. The processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo with a processing speed of 2.4 Ghz. This will also ensure that the system does not slow down or even hang when running multiple programs. The system boasts of up to 6 GB of random access memory so there is no fear of slowing down or even hanging. The system also comes with the option of upgrading the RAM up to a maximum of 8 GB. The Additional 2 GB RAM stick will cost between $20 and $35, depending on the brand. Also, the Secondary memory, the hard disk drive is 500 GB so there is also enough memory to work with. The graphics processor is the award winning NVIDIA GeForce 9600 which has a dedicated RAM of 512 mb. I would like to work on Windows platform as my base system because the software is very easy to come by and maintenance is cheaper than other base systems. I would also like to add an external monitor. I propose a 15” LCD monitor which will cost $100. This would increase the range of display of the graphics on the system.
