Introduction
Graphic design differs from other forms of art in that the designers must assist the target viewer get the full message. The graphic designers have to also assist in the selling of product or a service. Developing a graphic design process system can go a long way in helping a designer to achieve the best possible results. There are various benefits that result from the systemization of the graphic design process. The work is done faster, the project stays organized and better results are yielded. A sample graphic design process is comprised of six steps as illustrated below
1. Collection of necessary information
This is the first step which is very essential. Before embarking on the actual graphic design process, the designer must first collect all the data and information needed and assemble it into a common unit. Some of the information that is paramount to the designer includes the target audience, the exact or actual message, technical requirements, budgets and deadlines. It is advisable to systemize this communication with the customer or the client, for example by using a questionnaire to ensure that all bases are covered.
2 Writing out a plan, proposal, contract and firm quote.
The above elements can be acquired from customized templates for the job. Systemization can be used to take care of this particular project portion painlessly and quickly If there is no system that is already in place, templates of these documents have to be created promptly. A proposal is essentially customized for every client while the proposal contains most a lot of the elements in the proposal although it is sometimes adapted or adjusted to meet one’s needs.
3. Brainstorming, Research and Installation
It is very critical that a designer finds inspiration for his projects; research similar designs formulated earlier and have a free brainstorming session. By taking time to get inspiration and organizing one’s thoughts, work is usually done faster in the long run. Examples of things where inspiration can be drawn include: reading books, free writing unwinding amongst others. Brainstorming is then taking the inspiration and then organizing it into a form that can be incorporated effectively into the design. The final idea is then researched and ways of making it happen are formulated.
4. Trying or experimenting with different things
This is where the designer usually experiments with other ideas but still using the original goal as a point of reference. This enables the designers to learn new things that he may show to the client.
5. Revision Phase
This is where the designer revises portions of the design which the client is not happy with. This stage requires a lot attention and systemizing it is sometimes challenging. After sharing the original design with the client, the designer should give the environment where they are free to express the things that they would like to be changed or adjusted.
6. Wrapping up
This is usually the final step in the graphic design process where everything is completed and the design is handed to the client.
