Identifying the problem
This paper addresses the issue of abortion as a societal concern. Evidently, abortion remains both an ethical and social policy issue not only in the United States but also the world society in general. Defined as the act of terminating a human pregnancy in deliberate terms, many people argue that the woman’s decision to abort is their right (Guttmacher Institute, 2016). However, being a social issue, other members of the society, specifically religious leaders, argue against abortion. For those against abortion, they say that it is only ethical not to terminate the child’s life as that may be similar to murder. The youth constitutes the larger population affected by abortion as a social issue.
The legislation
Before the famous case of Roe v. Wade, abortion was generally illegal across the US (Abortion : Fourteenth Amendment n.d.). However, the court made a decision to legalize abortion under two circumstances; protection of women’s health as well as the potentiality protection of human life. After an appeal in the same year (1973), the Supreme Court of the United States deemed abortion a fundamental right (Wolfe & Moehn, 2016). Since then, abortion in the United States Constitution remains a fundamental right hence all other laws that attempt to restrict it are subject to scrutiny. However, abortion remains a societal problem since women have now taken advantage of their fundamental right to carry out unsound abortions.

RE: Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act of 2015. Bill S.48
I am writing to offer my support as well as encourage you to continue advocating for the Bill S.48 on Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act of 2015 (Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act, 2015). I believe that the bill provides the appropriate guideline to controlling the cases of misled and inappropriate abortions in the country.
Although I recognize abortion as a fundamental right as stated by the constitution of the United States, it is disappointing to see many women abuse this right. Statistics suggest that many women opt for abortion every time they become pregnant specifically for other reasons apart from health and potential protection of human life. Among these (other) reasons include gender and sex discrimination of the unborn.
Recently, a case went vital in our local town where a woman aborted her child upon realizing she would be delivering a baby girl. After a scan, the mother of one child explained to the doctor that she would not like to deliver another baby girl as she has plans for a boy instead. Therefore, upon request, the doctor helped the patient to successfully abortion. These, are among the many cases that happen every day in today’s generation.
With no doubt, I believe that it is only ethical for women to consider abortion when their health is at stake. The other reasons; especially, in this case, gender and sex discrimination of the unborn signify a lack of humor and moral responsibility (Wayne, 2015). Upon the assent of the bill, it would bring order to humanity. Further, it will be a source of guideline for all medical practitioners to help patients carry abortions. Most importantly, the bill will save many innocent lives, not only of your constituents but also the greater society.
I appreciate your contribution to this matter.
Sincerely
