Forrest Gump
‘Forrest Gump’ is a very deep and moving film. The story tells us about the main character Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks), a man with a low IQ, who, however, turns out to be smarter than most members of society and who we consider being "normal" people. The film tells us the story of his extraordinary life.
The events in the film begin at the bus stop where Forrest opens a box of chocolates. With his words about shoes and that ‘life is a box of chocolate’, the viewer embarks on a journey through the life of the protagonist of the film, which is filled with many events, key features of which become his strong legs. (Forrest Gump) Thanks to them the hero runs faster than a car.
The main character Forrest Gump is an amazing person. He is an extraordinary person and he understands everything very literally. In his life he often experiences deja vu. Whoever he meets on his way, Lieutenant Dan or Jenny, he influences everyone and influences positively. However, most of the time, people do not have a positive impact on him.
The life journey of Forrest is extremely tortuous. He goes to school because of the insistence of the mother (his IQ is 75 when secondary schools need at least 80). He enters the University, thanks to his excellent skills in the game of American football. After graduating, Forrest as a good citizen goes into the army. Gump with his new friend, Baba, whom he met in the army bus, is sent to Vietnam under the command of Lieutenant Dan. It should be noted that the most significant milestones occur for Forrest precisely on the bus, and while he is waiting for the bus, the main character tells his story.
In Vietnam, Forrest shows how heroic he is but he gets shot. After his stay in the hospital, he stays in the army serving the time he has left and playing ping-pong. A war hero, a shrimp millionaire, for some even the Messiah, the man who has repeatedly been personally rewarded by the President, in all of his adventures, he never forgets the most valuable person for him. Jenny, whom he met on the school bus, who was always the closest to him after his mom, the girl who would become his wife. While telling his story on the bus stop to different listeners and travelers, Forrest is awaiting Jenny’s arrival.
Sometimes it seems that Forrest is dependent on others. If you say "run" – he runs, say "play tennis" and he starts playing tennis. In fact, other people are even more dependent on politics, on public opinion, and on society. On their fears, addictions, etc. This is most clearly shown by the example of Jenny, the girl Forrest was in love all his life. Her fate and life are the antithesis of the fate of Forrest.
He just loves his mother — a wise single woman who gave the son everything that she could in order to provide him with love and care. She gave him everything - from sincere love and proper upbringing and ending with a good education. He protects his girlfriend from a terrible and tragic fate. He helps people because he is a loyal and caring person. He always does what he likes. Forrest is not only a student and the best soccer player, not only a war hero, a famous athlete, and billionaire Forrest is a loving son, loyal friend, good friend, husband, father.
Tom Hanks cannot do any wrong – his Forrest Gump with the silly-good and at the same time concentrated expression on the face looks realistic and memorable. Indeed, while other people are in doubt and pull back when they are afraid, Forrest just goes ahead, simultaneously helping others. He does know how to give up or give in. He can be viewed as a great role model for all of us.
